Christmas Season

Image result for What is the Christmas period?  Image result for What is the Christmas period?

Anytime when I post something that's Christmas-related, you'll see on the tag at the end of the post called, "Christmas season."  I refer to this period of time until Christmas day as "Christmas season."  What is Christmas season?  I'll give you the traditional interpretation of Christmas season and then I'll give you my interpretation of Christmas season as I view it.  "Christmas Season" according to tradition, is typically the twelve days of Christmas beginning with December 25 until January 5 or 6.  Back a few centuries ago, that's how Christmas season was defined.  It's also known as Twelvetide, celebrating the Nativity of Jesus Christ.  In most Western ecclesiastical traditions, Christmas day is considered the first day of Christmas whereas the twelve days of Christmas revolve around starting December 25 until January 25.  That's how Christmas is celebrated in Western traditions.

Even though that's a long-time traditional way of celebrating Christmas a few centuries ago, the philosophy I have about Christmas is the time (which is the day after Thanksgiving), where we start meditating and celebrating the time when God sent his son into the world for the future purpose to die on the cross and save mankind from their sins.  I celebrate Christmas starting the day after Thanksgiving, which is considered Black Friday, until December 25, which is Christmas day.  I enjoy this time of year where we take time to meditate upon what the Lord did for us when God sent Jesus to this earth to be born in a stable.  I also enjoy reading and learning about the different Christmas traditions over the course of time.  I enjoy the beautiful Christmas music whether it be vocal or instrumental.  I enjoy all the beautiful Christmas decorations, including the Christmas tree.  I enjoy the holiday season and I believe Christians should learn to enjoy the full meaning the purpose of Christmas.  Sad to say, the time from Thanksgiving until December 25 is chosen for commercial reasons.  There's a ton of money to be made in the purchasing of gifts for the holiday season.  Much of the motive for the Christmas season is money to the retail world.  There's nothing wrong with gift-giving but it's no the commercialism associated with Christmas that makes it what it is.  Our purpose for the time we have this Christmas season is to remember the gift that God the Father sent to this world.  Thank God for that sacrifice.  Have a blessed Christmas season.

Trump: I Got Elected to Build a Wall

On Tuesday President Trump Reacted to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) deciding to pull out of a meeting with President Trump and the Republican leadership.  Trump was discussing a potential government shutdown.  He said if there is a government shutdown, he would absolutely blame the Democrats for it.  He stated the reasons for it such as the Democrats want to rise taxes, they want illegals pouring into our country which would result in higher crimes rates.  He also stated he wants strong funding for the military.  Trump was making a point about the border wall stating the Democrats don't desire one.  Trump pointed out that he was partially elected to build a border wall.  That is a true statement.  But I want to make a point to President Trump that the American people didn't elect you to appoint Kristjen Nielsen to become the next head of the Department of Homeland Security.  She is pro-DACA and pro open borders.  She doesn't believe we need a border wall.  The American people didn't elect you to elect a pro-amnesty person in positions of government.  If you're serious about building a border wall, then you need to appoint someone else to that position that is pro-border wall.  You can't appoint people whose philosophy is in contradiction to what you campaigned for.  It makes me wonder if you're serious about building a border wall or any of the agenda you ran on last year.  Click on the above link to read the full story.

2020? Luis Gutierrez Leaving Congress To Build Left-Wing Infrastructure

2020 Luis Gutierrez Leaving Congress

Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), vowed on Tuesday that he will travel from coast to coast in the years ahead after leaving Congress, creating a "new fierce framework for immigrant rights" across the country ahead of the 2020 and the presidential election.  Garcia said he will no run for re-election in 2018 and has chosen Chuy Garcia to take his place.

As a freshmen Congressman he opposed NAFTA whom Clinton signed, he was opposed to the Defense of Marriage Act.  He also supported a single-payer system.  He also was a strong supporter of Barack Obama's candidacy for the presidency.  Gutierrez also is a huge supporter of amnesty for illegals.  Click on the above link to read the full story.

We Can Celebrate Christmas Because He lives

Story Behind the Song Because He Lives

Because He Lives--The Gaither Trio1972

Years ago both Bill and Gloria will going through a tumultuous time in their lives in the late 1960's.  Both were English teachers who had majored in English and had taught high school for several years until 1967--when they both went into the singing ministry together.  Gloria Gaither was typically the writer to lyrics of the song while Bill set the lyrics to music.

During the late 1960's their third child was born.  Bill was struck with a case of mononucleosis.  It was a time of anguish and despair for Gloria.   Also, the 1960's was a tumultuous time with the rise of the hippie movement and the "God is Dead" movement.  Gloria was wondering why would anyone desire to bring a child into this crazy world?  Then she noted that a peace from the Holy Spirit calmed her fears and she realized that you don't bring children into this world because it's stable.  You bring a child into the world regardless how the social atmosphere is in our nation and the world.  The reason why you bring children into this world is "Because He Lives."

In a few weeks we'll be celebrating Christmas.  Many in Christendom will be celebrating the birth of Christ, which is what Christmas is all about.  It's about the time when Jesus was born into this world through the Virgin Mary, who knew no man.  She was impregnated by the Holy Ghost.  The Wise Men came to seek him to worship him.  They presented him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.  Then an angel of the Lord told Joseph to take his family and flee into Egypt because Herod had sought to kill baby Jesus.

Christmas is the time of year when we celebrate the birth of Christ.  But if the only thing significant during the Christmas season is Jesus' birth, then his birth wouldn't have been any more significant than any other historical figure if it all ended with Jesus being born on earth.  On the other hand, if all we could say was that Jesus lived on this earth a sinless life, died upon the cross, and that was the end, then that wouldn't had much significance to it.  However, the very fact that Jesus not only died on the cross, but rose again from the grave and is seated on the right hand of the Father, (Hebrews 8:2) signifies that He is alive and lives forevermore.  It's because He's alive today is the reason why we celebrate Christmas.  Christmas is not just about Christ's birth.  It's about a child that's born that will one day die on an old rugged cross and will rise from the grave.  He's seated at the right hand of the father and we have power through Christ.  Christmas and Easter wouldn't be any different than any of the other days set aside to celebrate the life of a particular person that once lived on earth.  But Jesus rose again and conquered hell and the grave.  As a result of that, HE's alive.  And because he lives, we celebrate Christmas, looking forward to day when he would make that sacrifice on Calvary's cross for the sins of mankind.  Because He Lives, we have the opportunity for life which happens through the new birth.  Because He Lives, we can live a victorious life upon this earth as a Christian.  Because He Lives, we have a home in Heaven when he raptures the saints out of this world.  (I Thessalonians 4:13-18)  Life is worth a living just because He Lives.

God Sent His Son, They Called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive
He lived to die and buy my pardon

Rep. Ron DeSantis to Introduce Bill Banning Lawmakers Using Taxpayer Funds on Sexual Harrassment Claims

Rep. Desantis Introduces Bill
Conyers, DeSantis Split

Rep. Ron Desantis (R-FL) announced Wednesday that he was working on legislation to end the practice of lawmakers using taxpayer dollars to settle sexual harrassment claims, and to unseal those settlement records.  DeSantis said he is "working on legislation to unseal settlement records, bar use of tax dollars to pay claims against members and staff, prohibit members from using office budgets to camouflage payments (a Conyers rule) & require reimbursement of the taxpayer", DeSantis stated on Twitter.  On Monday Buzzfeed had reported that Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) office had payed an accuser $27,000 to settle a complaint that she had been fired for refusing his sexual advances.  DeSantis legislation is supposed to make public all payments funded by taxpayers, as well as the nature of the initial allegation and the member of Congress implicated.  It would also bar the use of tax dollars to settle sexual harassment claims in which the member of Congress is a Plaintiff, or an employee of the House or Senate, and require that any member of Congress that settled a complaint using taxpayer funds to reimburse the American people.

I agree with DeSantis' sentiment.  Congress needs to stop using taxpayer dollars to cover themselves when it comes to settling sexual harassment claims.  We can't afford to waste taxpayer dollars for that kind of junk.  To tell you the truth, those who are guilty of sexual harassment need to exit Congress and never come back.  If the electorate had any sense then they wouldn't vote people like John Conyers back into office again.  It doesn't make any difference whether the elected official is Democrat or Republican.  Click on the above link to read the rest of the story.

Donald Trump: Egyptian Terror Attacks Proves We Need Border Wall
Tim Foley, Chitose Nakagawa, Marcie Mieko Kagawa

President Trump re-affirmed his demand for the long-promised wall on the Southern Border along the U.S. after terrorists killed at least 235 people in Egypt.  The President announced plans to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Twitter.  According to the New York Times, the attack took place at a mosque where the victims were mostly Sufi Muslims, a group considered heretical by extremist Muslims.  Terrorists triggered a bomb inside the mosque and sent gunmen to shoot the people as they fled the scene.  In recent days, Trump has stressed the need to build a border wall, including on Thanksgiving Day and after a border guard was killed by illegal immigrants.

I agree with Trump that we desperately need a border wall built around the Southern Border, but those who control the media and our politicians desire an open borders policy.  It will be difficult to enact "Trump's agenda" on building a border wall.  Click on the above link to read the full story.

Colin Kaepernick Joins "Un-Thanksgiving Protest at Alcatraz

Colin Kaepernick Joins Un-Thanksgiving Protest at Alcatraz

Former NFL Quarterback from San Francisco 49'ers Colin Kaepernick

Former San Francisco 49'ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick joined the annual "Un-Thanksgiving" Protest by Native American activists at the Indigenous People's Sunrise Gathering on Alcatraz Island.  The demonstration is held each year to commemorate the occupation by Native American activists from 1969 until 1971, which was credited with encouraging changes in the Federal government's policy towards "Indian Affairs," according to the East Bay report.

It's not surprising to see Kaepernick involved in an "Unthanksgiving" protest.  He was displaying his unthankfulness when he took a knee during the singing of the national anthem before the start of the game when he played for the 49'ers.  He remains a symbol for the Black Lives Matter movement.  Kaepernick inspired the wave of protests against the national anthem.  In return, it provoked a fan boycott.  It would behoove Kaepernick to stop and think about the number of African Americans that have given their lives over the years in the military during the numerous wars that have been fought to keep our country free from oppression and tyranny.  Race relations weren't perfect years ago, either.  But they still honored our flag and proudly fought for this country.  It's tragic people like him don't think upon that.

'Tis the Season

The Bells of Christmas are Ringing--Julie Andrews

Every year during the outset of Christmas season, I always feature the YouTube video of Julie Andrews singing "The Bells of Christmas are Ringing."  I feel that's the perfect way to begin the Christmas season, which typically begins the day after Thanksgiving, esp. with the Black Friday shopping that takes place.  I conjured the idea of starting the Christmas season off with Julie Andrews singing, "The Bells of Christmas are Ringing" several years ago when I used to listen to the late Edith L. Bennett perform her Christmas programs specials on WOMI AM radio 1490.  She worked for WOMI Radio from November 1950 until her death on April 12, 2013.  She had a Sunday morning radio program for 3.5 hours and then on Christmas eve and Christmas day she would air her Christmas program which would feature all kinds of Christmas music from various artists and musicians.  Every year on WOMi when the Christmas season would begin, she would start it with Julie Andrews singing "The Bells of Christmas are Ringing."  I decided to use that song as a trademark when beginning the Christmas season on this blog.

This year I'm planning on posting several Christmas musicals from YouTube.  I also plan on writing about the doctrine of the Virgin Birth as well.  There's a Christmas thought I'm thinking about writing using the song the Gaither's wrote years ago, "Because He Lives."  I will also write about the different Christmas traditions that have been practiced for years around the world.  I'm also contemplating writing about the different customs that different customs use in celebrating Christmas.  How is Christmas celebrated in Australia or Mexico, for example.  I will probably include a few news pieces revolving around Christmas as well.  I featured on piece of Christmas news on this past Wednesday's post.  You will also be seeing pieces of George F. Handel's Messiah musical.  I'm looking forward to another great Christmas this year.

In Everything Give Thanks

Image result for thanksgiving Image result for thanksgiving

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving today.  I know many people will be assembling at their families' houses partaking of turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, rolls, salads, and all the trimmings that are are a part of it.  Some people will be watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and some will be probably be watching the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and other NFL teams that are playing today.   There's nothing wrong with spending time enjoying yourselves doing those things, but I'm afraid many people don't understand the significance of the holiday in this generation.  There's nothing wrong with feasting and enjoying a time of leisure but let's not forget our Pilgrim forefathers who sailed to America in 1620 and 1621.  They didn't possess the luxuries we do today.  We didn't have the finest in accommodations back then.  But even though conditions were different back then, they expressed thanksgiving toward God for his provision and his goodness.  I want you to click on the link to the History.com website to read about the History of Thanksgiving.

I Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."  According to this verse, giving thanks should be a daily part of our lives.  It's not just for the fourth Thursday of November once a year only.  It's God's will to give thanks.  I recognize it can be difficult when Christians are facing storms and trials in their lives to have a heart of Thanksgiving.  But we just need to remember that God is on his throne and he isn't caught by surprise at the issues of life.  He isn't surprised over what's taking place in the United States and around the world.  He knows all about it.  But he wants us by faith to give thanks regardless of the situation we're experiencing.  Whether it's sunshine, harvest, rain, or snow in our lives, we must be thankful in all things.  Philippians 4:8 tells us to think upon those things that are pure, lovely, and of good report...etc.  We just do that.  We must captivate our minds and use them to think upon pure things and things from above.  If we don't, we'll panic when we face trials.

Philippians 4:11 says that whatsoever state we may find ourselves in, therewith be content.  (That's not the exact quote)  Again, we must have our minds stayed on the Lord (Isaiah 26:3).  We live in a world that's full of trouble.  You may proclaim that you're a born again Christian.  Just because you're saved doesn't mean life is full of rose.  Life is full of heartaches.  The Bible predicts that Christians will face tribulation in this life.  But if we don't keep our hearts and mind focused upon the Lord, then we're going to struggle fulfilling those verses which say we're to be thankful in all things.  We're to be thankful in all things whether life is sunny side up, or you're facing the most severe trial in your life.  You may be in a situation where a loved one is facing death.  They have terminal cancer and there's no cure for it.  Or you may have lost your job and you're about ready to face foreclosure because you can't make the house payment.  However, if we keep our minds stayed on the Lord, we can give thanks in everything.  I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving.  Let's not forget the reason why we celebrate Thanksgiving.

Irish Catholic Priest Tells Christians to Abandon the Word "Christmas"

Irish Catholic Priest Tells Christians to Abandon the Word "Christmas"
christmas

Father Desmond O'Donnell, an Irish Catholic Priest, is urging Christians to give up the word "Christmas" and replace it with something else, saying that Christmas has been hijacked by "Santa and reindeer".  He said we lost Christmas like we lost Easter and that Christians need to accept that.  He told that to the Belfast Telegraph.  O'Donnell is a registered psychologist and author as well as an Oblate priest.  He said the meaning of Christmas has been taken over and commercialized by secular society.  O'Donnell stated for today's society Christmas has lost its sacred character.  He was asking that this space be preserved for those Christians who believe that Christmas isn't about Santa and reindeer.

There's no denial that Christmas has been commercialized and secularized in those society.  However, we list in a lost world that's away from God and doesn't want to have anything to do with Biblical truth.  The problem with Christmas in today's society isn't so much that the world has secularized it or commercialized it, but that "Christians" have gotten consumed with the commercialization of it.  Many churches today are consumed with gift-giving and all the elements that aren't about celebrating the birth of Jesus.  I guarantee you there are more Christians whose mind is on Black Friday shopping for the latest sale in electronics, for example, than they are meditating and celebrating the birth of Christ.  There's nothing wrong with Black Friday shopping, but Christians have missed the mark when it comes to celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.  We don't need to replace the word "Christmas."  That's not our problem.  We have allowed all the holiday festivities and events to take preeminence over the celebration of the birth of Christ.  Those who claim to be Christian need to remember what Christmas is about and come back to that place where we meditate upon and celebrate the birth of Christ.

Donald Trump Hiring Bush Administration Veterans For Top Jobs

Donald Trump Hiring Bush Administration Officials For Top Jobs
Trump vs Jeb!
Even though Donald Trump has been shunned by former President George W. Bush, a number of Bush veteran officials have been appointed top jobs in the Trump administration--which makes it very difficult for President Trump to "drain the swamp", which he called for during the 2016 presidential campaign.  The Associated Press has reported that Trump has appointed three dozen former officials from the Bush administration in positions involving scheduling to implementing foreign policy.  They are part of the Republican Old Guard which have been part of rhe problem during the George W. Bush administration many years ago.  There was outright hostility between the Bush's and Trump when he tore into Jeb Bush during the primaries dubbing Bush as "low-energy" and tearing into the kind of orthodoxy that was enacted in "Bush era" policies.

Some of the Bush veterans in Trump's administration are Elaine Chao, former Labor Secretary under Bush who is now the Transportation Secretary.  Dina Powell, the deputy national security adviser who oversaw presidential personnel and and later served in Bush's state department as an assistant secretary under Condoleezza Rice.  Even the president's schedule and day-to-day operations are seen by Joe Hagin, a former member of Bush's inner circle.  Recently, Trump nominated Kristjen Nielsen to be the next Department of Homeland Security Secretary.  She served in the Bush administration and she's very pro-amnesy and is opposed to the building of a border wall.  I know the globalists control the agenda, but the Trump agenda is going to be greatly hindered, to say the least, with those kind of leftovers in his administration.  Mr. President, if you believe in the "America First" agenda as you propagated it during your campaign, then you must appoint officials who support what you say you believe.  Otherwise, it will be the same business-as-usual as always.

Charles Manson, Mastermind Behind 1969 Murders, Dies

Charles Manson, the hippie cult leader who orchestrated the gruesome murders of then 26-year old pregnant actress Sharon Tate and six others in Los Angeles during the summer of 1969, died Sunday after nearly half a century in prison.  He was 83.  Manson, whose name is synonymous with unspeakable violence and madness, died of natural causes at Kern County Hospital.  Even though he had ordered dozens of slayings, he was eventually convicted of two high-profile massacres.  One of those massacres was the death of Actress Sharon Tate, Roman Polanski's wife at the time. He was away when she was murdered.  Five others were murdered as well, including Kroger Coffee heiress Abigail Folger.  Manson was convicted of first degree murder in 1971 of the Tate/LaBianca killings and was sentenced to death.  Consequently, the California State Supreme Court's 1972 decision to outlaw the death penalty caused his sentence to be commuted to a lifetime behind bars at California's Corcoran State Prison.  He had a swastika engraved on his forehead.  Click on the above link to read the rest of the story.

A Time For Thanksgiving

Thank You Lord--The Happy Goodmans

In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation declaring the fourth Thursday in November as the day to be set aside to celebrate a day of Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving became a federal holiday that year.  Ever since then America has been celebrating Thanksgiving ever since.

Psalms 50:14 says, "Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High."  Thanksgiving shouldn't be relegated to the fourth Thursday of every November.  Thanksgiving should be practiced and celebrated continually.  I'm thankful for the day that's set aside for that specific purpose, However, we need to always be in a state of thankfulness.  Psalms 116:2 says "What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me?"  With that question posed in this particular verse, the answer is giving thanks.  We should always remember God's goodness toward us.  When we read about the Pilgrims' first thanksgiving in 1621 which celebrated the first autumn harvest.  They didn't have the classic Thanksgiving dinner like we had.  They didn't own the nice luxuries we possess today.  There weren't any hotels to stay in.  There wasn't any heating or air conditioning to regulate the temperature.  They had sailed by boat to sail to America.  There were all kinds of sickness and deaths on the Mayflower.  However, they did offer thanksgiving unto God for what they had.

If the Pilgrims were able to give thanks to God having just sailed to a "wilderness" in Massachusetts, how much more should we give thanks?  We have so much in the way of material goods and conveniences it's not even funny.  However, thanksgiving is what's in the heart.  You can be thankful regardless what state you're in.  The Bible says that whatever state we're in, we're to give thanks.  God's truly been good to us.  Let's not forget the goodness of God as we partake of the turkey and dressing, and all the trimmings that go with it this coming Thanksgiving day.  God has truly been good to us.

Steve Bannon on the Bush Family: "I've Got No Time For them"

Steve Bannon on the Bush Family

The Bush family dynasty

Steve Bannon, Breitbart News Executive Chairman and former strategist for President Trump, stated that he had "no use for them" and said they are an example of the permanent political class.  Bannon spoke at a retreat at the David Horowitz Freedom Center in Palm Beach, Florida and made reference to the latest book entitled, "The Last Republicans" and reported that neither Bush '41 or Bush '43 voted for Trump in last year's election.  He told the audience that old man Bush voted for Hillary Clinton last year and Bush 43' the most destructive president and most destructive presidency in our country, said he didn't vote or voted some write-in, but didn't vote for Trump, that's all you have to know.  Bannon stated their inability to make a distinction between Trump and Clinton shows they are fundamentally entwined with the permanent political class.  Bannon said if the Bush's couldn't see the fundamental difference between the Clinton regime and what Trump had to offer, then he said he had no time for the Bush's.

Bannon said the attitude of the Bush family is what economic nationalist movement is fighting against, and that how that it is represented through the tax bill working its way through Congress.

To tell you the truth, there's no fundamental difference whatsoever between Bush '41, Clinton, Bush '43, and Obama.  They are  inextricably linked together, in my opinion.  All four ex-presidents have much more in common with each other than any one of them do with President Trump, according to my observation thus far.  It's tragic.  Click on the above link to read the story.

Liberal billionaire George Soros and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi were the primary attractions Friday at a California gathering of the anti-Trump elite.  The four day event in Carlsbad entitled, "Beyond #Resistance: Reclaiming Our Progressive Future," asked that guests refrain from contacting the media or posting to social media, according to the agenda.

Other speakers appearing in person or via video include Senator  Kamala Harris (D-CA), Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (D-MN) and Democrats Gov. Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania and Gov.-elect Ralph Northam of Virginia.  Special guest speakers are CNN contributor Van Jones and Center for American Progress CEO Neera Tanden.

Unacceptable: Democrats Turn on Franken Over Groping Allegations
Image result for democrats turn on franken over groping allegations

Democrats lashed out at Democratic Senator Al Franken of Minnesota, after Los Angeles TV and radio host Leann Tweeden accused Franken of kissing and groping her during a USO tour in 2006, with at least two female lawmakers pledging to return campaign funds raised for them by Franken's political action committee.  Leaders of both parties in the House and Senate called for an ethics investigation into Franken, something he echoed himself and both the DNC leader Tom Perez and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called for.

It's amazing how so many Democrats are wanting to "turn" on him over those allegations.  I don't believe for a second they could care less one way or another if he groped women or whatever kind of sexual misconduct he was involved with no more than the Republicans want Roy Moore to drop out of the Alabama race because of allegations of sexual misconduct.  The Democrats never cared about former president Bill Clinton's sexual escapades while in the White House.  However, they're "ganging" up on Franken for what I believe to be political posturing.  The Democrats want to capture back both Houses of Congress so they'll make whatever move they can to benefit themselves politically.  That's my opinion.  Click on the above link from Fox News to read the full story.
