"The Global Islamist Revolt is Here" Joseph Farah

The global Islamist revolt is here.
In case you didn't notice, and few have, there is a global Islamist revolution under way.
The world's press doesn't see it.
The talking heads on cable TV don't see it.
Washington doesn't see it.
It's a case of not noticing the forest for the trees.
With revolts going on in Egypt, Tunisia, Pakistan, Yemen, Lebanon and Jordan, most of them clearly orchestrated from Iran, it's easy to believe these are unrelated, disconnected uprisings.
But if you have been observing the Muslim world like I have been for 35 years, what's happening right now is as big a development – maybe bigger – than what happened in 1979 when backers of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, with a push from Jimmy Carter, overthrew Iran's Shah Mohamed Reza Pahlavi in one of the most tragic and unfortunate international developments of the late 20th century. We, in the West, have been paying the price for it ever since.
This is the work of the Muslim Brotherhood, with the aid and encouragement of Tehran. And the ripple effect of what we're seeing is hard to overstate.
As the leader of Jordan's powerful Muslim Brotherhood, Hammam Saeed, warned over the weekend, the unrest in Egypt will spread across the Mideast and Arabs will topple leaders allied with the United States.
I've done my part to alert the public to the insidious work of the Muslim Brotherhood, including right here in the U.S. But, again, most Americans don't get it. They've been hoodwinked by the media and government school system into believing there is no active conspiracy for a worldwide caliphate, and certainly no threat to the U.S. from what the brotherhood refers to as the Muslim mafia.

An amazing book by the same name, "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America," was published more than a year ago by WND Books with the intention of exposing the secret international cabal working on behalf of Saudi-style Shariah law right here in America. Again, the book, a work of daring and courage and enterprise got a collective yawn from the politically correct establishment news media.

Now, as Rev. Jeremiah Wright would say, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Imagine if Egypt falls.

Hosni Mubarak is nothing but a dictator, it's true. But he is a dictator who is holding the line on Islamic radicalism. If his regime goes, it will be replaced by something similar to what we see in Iran today – a government run by zealous mullahs hell-bent on bringing about a worldwide Islamic revolution.

Egypt is the largest and arguably most important Arab country in the Middle East. For decades now it has been at relative peace with its neighbor, Israel. How long will that last if Mubarak is replaced with a Muslim Brotherhood leader? Keep in mind it was the Muslim Brotherhood that assassinated Mubarak's predecessor, Anwar Sadat, for making peace with Israel.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is still in the midst of a quagmire in Afghanistan, while still engaged in Iraq. It can ill afford an explosion of violence and revolution and instability through the Middle East and the Islamic world.
But that appears to be just what is coming.
The U.S. is also mired in deep recession. Try to imagine how that economic dislocation will be exacerbated by a disruption of the flow of Middle East oil, as happened in the 1970s.
Remember, the U.S. and Israel are the primary targets. Europe has already capitulated to Islam. Israel and the U.S. stand virtually alone, and the U.S. is in denial of the threat.
What you see happening around the Islamic world today is big. It's dangerous. It's explosive.
If you think America, which has arrogantly and ignorantly refused to develop its own energy sources, is somehow immune, you are in for a rude awakening.

Remembering the Challenger Explosion

Shuttle Challenger Explodes

Ronald Reagan's Remarks on the Challenger Shuttle Explosion

(Fox News January 28, 2011)  Hundreds gathered at NASA's launch site today to mark the 25th anniversary of the Challenger explosion, receiving words of hope from the widow of the space shuttle's commander.  The cold outdoor ceremony drew space agency managers, former astronauts, past and present launch directors, family and friends of the fallen crew--and schoolchildren who weren't yet born when the space shuttle carrying a high school teacher by the name of Christa McAuliffe from Concord, N.H. erupted in the sky.  The accident took place on January 28, 198 just 73 seconds into flight.  It killed all seven on board including McAuliffe.

June Scobee Rodgers, the widow of Challenger's commander, Dick Scobee, urged the crowd to "boldly look to the future" not only in space travel, but in space and science education.  She was instrumental in establishing the Challenger Center for Space Science Education.  "The entire world knew how the Challenger crew died," she said.  "We wanted the world to know how they lived and for what they were risking their lives."  Rodgers and NASA's space operations chief, Bill Gerstenmaier, placed a memorial wreath of red, white and blue-tinted carnations at the base of the Space Mirror Memorial.  The 42-foot-tall gleaming mirrored slab of granite bears the names of all 24 astronauts killed in the line of duty over the years--17 of those in U.S. spacecraft.

At the high school where McAuliffe taught, special assemblies were held Friday in her honor.  Anniversary events also took place at Challenger Learning Centers across the country.  The silver anniversary comes as NASA is winding down the space shuttle program.  The fleet will be retired after three more flights this year to the International Space Station.

I can recall the day the shuttle Challenger exploded.  I was in the eighth grade.  We were in science class.  It was an earth science class.  The teachers turned on the television so we could watch the Challenger being launched into space.  It was a matter of seconds when the Challenger exploded once launched into space.  It was a very sad time.  The teacher even allowed us a time for silent prayer following the Challenger explosion.  I do appreciate the sacrifice the Challenger astronauts made.  It was tragic that it cost them their lives.  I can remember back on February 1, 2003 when space shuttle Columbia exploded and how the nation mourned over that tragedy.  Just like our soldiers in the military, we should always remember the shuttle astronauts that lost their lives in both space shuttle explosions.

RINO's For President in 2012

Mitt Romney  Rudy Guiliani dressed as a woman

  Rudy Guiliani
 Newt Gingrich

Mike Huckabee

I stated in a post last summer that President Barack Obama might be a two-term president.  There have been many conservative pundits and former politicians such as Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, and Dick Cheney who have stated they believe President Obama will be a one-term president.  Just recently, former vice-president Cheney once again reiterated his theme that he believes President Obama will be a one-term president because his policies are unpopular.  Do they remember Bill Clinton?  Bill Clinton's poll numbers were low during the second year of his presidency when he was pushing forward the nationalized healthcare plan that year.  That bill went into defeat.  Clinton was under attack by conservative forces for the liberal agenda he was pushing on America.  He tried to make the military "gay friendly" during his first year as president, appointed an embarassing liberal for Surgeon General, Dr. Jocelyn Elders, and he tried to nationalize healthcare.  As a result, the Democrats took a beating during the 1994 midterm election.  The Republicans won both Houses of Congress that year which in turn was dubbed "the Republican Revolution."  In 2010, we've seen a similar incident take place except this time only the House went Republican.  The Senate still remains in Democratic hands.  Following the 1994 elections, then President Clinton experienced a turnaround in popularity, possibly beginning with the tragic incident at the Oklahoma City bombing.  In 1996, a weak Republican candidate by the name of Bob Dole ran against Clinton for the presidency.  As a result, the election was a cakewalk for Clinton.

As of recent, President Obama's popularity is climbing once again.  At the end of 2010, President Obama's popularity was hovering around 42%.  Now his popularity has climbed to 47%.  I guarantee it's destined to climb even further in months to come.  I believe President Obama is poised for a re-election victory.  As much as I don't like to say that, I must be honest.  We know how the Republican Party is.  They have traditionally had a good campaign platform, but when it comes to standing by the principles they campaign upon, that's a different story.  So far, they've stuck to their promise to vote for repeal of healthcare in the House.  The House voted to repeal healthcare, but that won't move anywhere considering the Senate is in Democratic hands.  Also, President Obama would veto the bill if the Senate did vote to repeal it.  House Speaker John Boehner claims that he would consider choking funding for this new bill.  Will the Republicans be faithful in trying to stop or delay healthcare or are they mincing words?  The Republican Party for the last several year has grown government and created huge deficits.  They're just as much pro-government as the Democrats are.  The Republicans aren't any alternative to the Democrats.  The Republicans are going to make mistakes and not stand up to the principles they claim to embrace.  That won't help their chances.

One of the biggest challenges to defeating President Obama next year for president is the quality of candidates running for president.  As of right now, there isn't any Republican running that I think has a legitimate chance to defeat President Obama in 2012.  Mitt Romney is considered a contender given he won the New Hampshire straw poll last weekend.  I read in a New Jersey poll on the website that Mitt Romney and former Arkansas governor Mike Homney are tied in a hypothetical poll in New Jersey.  However, neither candidate offers the agenda that's needed to turn America around.  Romney is a RINO.  He's no conservative.  He supported statewide healthcare in Massachusetts, which has proven to be a disaster.  Romney also has flip-flopped on abortion a couple of times.  Romney's an establishment Republican.  Mike Huckabee, on the other hand, is considered a conservative evangelical.  However, he's weak on issues dealing with illegal immigration and spending.  Huckabee's not a formidable candidate as far as I'm concerned.  I've listened to him on the Hucabee Show on Fox News a number of times.  He doesn't appear to be a strong candidate that will stand in the gap in America regardless of the cost.  He appears to be a candidate that can be compromised.

A couple of other RINO's that are considering a run are former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani.  Guiliani is another RINO.  He supports abortion and doesn't support the Second Amendment.  He's also cross-dressed as a woman.  He appears to be more of a clown that a man that's presidential material.  Gingrich has flip-flopped on issues as well.  Gingrich appeared on an ad stating that global warming is real a few years ago.  He also supported a very liberal Republican woman in a special election during the November 2009 election in a Congressional seat in New York.  We don't need these people to run against Obama next November.  If any one of those men receive the Republican nomination during next year's primary, then I predict President Obama will win re-election.

There are a few other names floating around that are considering a run for the president such as Tim Pawlenty, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.  Neither Bachmann nor Palin have a chance to win the presidency next year.  Unless some strong, patriotic men submit themselves to run for the Republican nomination for president next year, then I project Obama will win the presidency.  RINO's or Republicans who stand for nothing aren't going to win the presidency.  It will require a strong candidate that's overtly patriotic who can articulate the message to the American people.  They will have to be able to connect with the American public and prove they aren't just another politician.  That's not going to be easy to do given the American publics' distruct with government today.  If the men I just mentioned above are the choices we have to draw from for president next year, we're in huge trouble.

The 50th Anniversary of John F. Kennedy's Inauguration

Highlights of the 1961 Inaugural

JFK's Inaugural Address (Part 1)

JFK's Inaugural Address (Part 2)

The Writing of JFK's Inaugural Address

Yesterday January 2011, was the 50th anniversary of the inaugural of John F. Kennedy.  He was the first president at that time to be born in the 29th century.  JFK was born on May 29, 1917.  He was the youngest president ever to be inaugurated at the age of 43.  He won a close race against then vice-president Richard Nixon in 1960.   He encouraged Americans in his inaugural speech "to ask not what your country can do, but ask what you can do for your country."  He believed America was a great country.  In 1961 he made the statement he wanted the United States to be the first country to send the first man on the moon.  That goal was accomplished on July 20, 1969.

GOP-Led House Votes to Repeal Obamacare

John Boehner, Dr. Nan Hayworth, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Kevin McCarthy, Jeb Hensarling
House Speaker John Boehner speaks of the vote to repeal healthcare

(USA Today January 20, 2011) The Republican-led House of Representatives voted Wednesday to repeal last year's healthcare law, the first major rebuke of the White House by the House of Representatives since the Republicans took control earlier this month.  The effort to repeal healthcare most likely won't take place in the Senate.  Democrats maintain a slim majority, and on top of that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claims he won't hold a vote on the floor concerning healthcare.  All House Republicans voted for the repeal, while the vast majority of the Democrats voted against it.  Three Democrats crossed party lines and voted with Republicans.  Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK), and son of former U.S. Senator David Boren (D-OK), said although he supports not denying coverage for pre-existing conditions and allowing adult children to remain on their parents' health insurance policies--provisions of the law that are now in effect--he wants a better law.  "When taken as a whole, the health care legislation adds far too many taxes, mandates and regulations that burden Oklahoma families and prevent our nation's job creators from producing the kind of economic growth that is sorely needed," Boren said in a statement.

Even though Harry Reid claims he won't take a vote on the Senate floor for a repeal, House Republicans say they'll begin work today on new health care proposals.  According to a USA Today/Gallup Poll released last week, 32% of Americans would like to see a full repeal of the law, and 13% would like to see the bill left as it stands.  The poll found that 29% of Americans would like to see minor changes and that 24% would like to see major changes.  Rep. Ben Chandler (D-KY) who voted against the law last year voted against repeal efforts this year.  The reason behind that was he would like to see the "bad" parts of the law be repealed piecemeal instead of repealing the whole law.  He stated there were certain parts of the new law he liked such as the law that prevents insurance companies from dropping people if they get sick, ending lifetime caps on coverage and eliminating pre-existing condition exclusions, according to Chandler.

The effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act won't likely happen during the 112th Congress.  The votes aren't there in the Senate as well as President Obama will more than likely veto the bill.  The way to prevent healthcare from being implemented this year is for the House to choke off funding for this new healthcare legislation.  That's what the Republican House needs to focus on.  Whether they will or not remains to be seen.

Sargent Shriver, Former Brother-in-Law of JFK and RFK, Dies at 95

(1) A picture of SargentShriver during the 1972 presidential campaign and (2) EuniceKennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver

(USA Today January 19, 2011) R. Sargent Shriver rose to power after marrying into the Kennedy family.  He married Eunice Kennedy, the sister of both John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy in 1953.  Following his marriage to Eunice Kennedy, he built his own legacy by founding and leading some of America's most prominent institutions of peace, justice, and equal opportunity.  He played a prominent role in the formation of the Peace Corps, Head Start, VISTA, and Special Olympics, etc.  These are causes that will more than likely continue long after Shriver's death.  Shriver suffered from Alzheimer's disease and died yesterday at age 95.  He was a politician that never won an election.  He was the vice-presidential candidate during the 1972 presidential race.  He was the second choice of George McGovern for vice president when then Missouri Senator Thomas Eagleton stepped aside.  Shriver was McGovern's running mate.  That race turned out to be lopsided in favor of Richard Nixon as the McGovern/Shriver ticket only carried Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.  Following the election defeat of 1972, Shriver made a long-shot run for president in 1976, but to no avail.

Shriver was "one of the brightest lights of the greatest generation," President Obama said in a statement.  "Over the course of his long and distinguished career, Sarge came to embody the idea of public service."  Shriver once said: "Nearly everybody in their life needs someone to help then.  I don't care whether you're the greatest self-made man: the fact is, someone has helped you along the way."  For Shriver, the help came along the way of marriage to Eunice Kennedy, who founded Special Olympics in 1968.  She died at 88 in August 2009.  Shriver's daughter, Maria Shriver, was the former first lady of California.  Shriver is married to Arnold Schwarzenegger, former governor of California.  After helping JFK win the 1960 presidential election, Shriver was named the first director of the Peace Corps, a post he held until 1966.  Since its creation, the corps has placed more than 200,000 volunteers in 139 countries.  After Kennedy's assassination in 1963, Shriver added director of Lyndon Johnson's Office of Economic Opportunity to his resume.  He helped direct the war on poverty which led to the creation of Head Start, Job Corps, Volunteers in Service to America, Community Action Partnership, Legal Services, Foster Grandparents and Upward Bound.

"He personified the optimistic spirit of an era and showed us by his example how to turn vision and commitment into action," said Senator Jay Rockefeller, D-W. VA.  In 1967 Shriver founded what became the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law, which delivers legal services to low-income people.  Today--the center will receive a $1 million award for exceptional service from the MacArthur Foundation.  From 1968 to 1970, Shriver served as U.S. ambassador to France, but he harbored political aspirations of his own.  He was the second choice in the 1972 presidential ticket for vice president after Thomas Eagleton was dropped from the ticket due to having undergone electroshock therapy for depression.  He made a run for the president in 1976, but finished a distant fifth to Jimmy Carter in Iowa.

For many years in the 1970's and '80's, he served as president and board chairman of Special Olympics.  The organization now serves nearly 3.5 million athletes with intellectual disabilities in more than 170 countries.  In 1994, President Clinton honored Shriver with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.  In 2003, Shriver's family revealed he had Alzheimers.  Shriver had five children:  Robert, Maria, Timothy, Mark and Anthony; and 19 grandchildren.

Janet Napolitano Cancels Virtual Border Fence Project

In this Aug. 6, 2009, photo, a U.S. Border Patrol agent opens a barbed wire fence leading to a road lined with vehicle barriers marking the U.S-Mexico border near Hermanas, N.M. (AP Photo)

(Fox News January 14, 2011) Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Friday that she has cancelled the troubled virtual fence project along the southwest border, proposing a new plan which she claims will better address each region's border security needs.  The decision comes a year after the secretary ordered a review of the project, which was hampered by delays and technological glitches, and froze its funding.  The original plan, known as SBInet, envisioned a system of cameras and sensors which would allow officers to monitor crossings and dispatch Border Patrol agents to catch anyone entering the United States illegally.

Napolitano claimed her department briefed members of Congress on Friday about the final decision to nix the program "as originall conceived."  She said the DHS will pursue a "new path forward" for security along the 2000-mile southern U.S. border.  The secretary said that while the U.S. cannot provide a "single, integrated border security technology solution," the new plan will use different technologies in different areas.  That could mean a system of surveillance towers in one area and unmanned drones in another.  It could mean thermal imaging in one area and elements of the old SBInet plan in another.  "There is no 'one-size-fits-all" solution to meet our border technology needs, and this new strategy is tailored to the unique needs of each border region, providing faster deployment of technology, better coverage, and a more effective balance between cost and capability," Napolitano said.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, (D-MS), a leading critic of the old virtual fence plan, applauded Napolitano's decision.  "The SBInet program has been a grave and expensive disappointment since its inception," said Thompson, ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee.  "I am glad that DHS and (Customs and Border Protection) are finally listening to what we have been saying for years--that the sheer size and variations of our borders show us a one-stop solution has never been best."  The project was first proposed under the George W. Bush administration.  When SBInet was put on hold a year ago, it had cost the government $672 million.  Technical problems, involving the effectiveness of video cameras and other elements, had by that point pushed the project far off the schedule.

I'm glad to see the virtual border fence project cancelled.  The virtual border fence is not what's needed to secure our borders.  The best example of a fence that needs to be built is the fence that was built along San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico.  Former Congressman Duncan Hunter was the congressman behind proposing that project.  The border fence at San Diego has greatly reduced the number of illegals crossing America's border from Southern Mexico.  The truth is our politicans don't want to do what is right and that is to replicate that same type of fence across the 2000 miles of the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico.  I do recognize that there may be a few illegals that will find a way to sneak in between the border fence, but the fence in San Diego that Hunter supported has been one of the most effective border fences built as of yet.  Our elected elite have been bought off by corporate and Hispanic interests.  All they're looking for is cheap labor and cheap votes.  What a travesty!  We can't depend on our elected officials to protect our borders.

Excerpts from "I Have a Dream" Speech

Today America is celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. day, in honor of the slain civil rights leader. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has been a national holiday in America since 1986. It's celebrated on the third Monday in January. It's celebrated real close to his birthday. He was an iconic figure in the civil rights movement. During the era he was living there was forced segregation in the Deep South. There were all kinds of civil rights marches where civil rights leaders would lead a group of people to march for the equality of blacks. During that time there was blatant discrimination against black people in the Deep South and even other parts of the nation. Blacks had attended separate schools, they had to drink out of separate water fountains, they could be denied admission to a motel due to their race. Even busses were segregated. Rosa Parks was told she had to sit in the back of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955 but refused to do so and she was arrested. She made headlines as a result of her refusal to sit in the back of the bus. After Martin Luther King, Jr. had settled with his family in Montgomery, he was asked to take part in demonstrations against segregation in Alabama and he participated in them.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a black Baptist minister who was known for his famous speech he gave on August 28, 1963 entitled, "I Have a Dream." He gave that speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. King was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929 to Alberta and Martin Luther King, Sr. He grew up in Atlanta. After high school King earned degrees in Morehouse College in Atlanta and Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania. He earned a doctorate in Boston University. He met Coretta Scott in Boston and later they married in 1953. They both settled in Montgomery, Alabama and he was appointed the pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. I have a few excerpts of his speech I copied down. Here are a few lines of the speech he gave on that momentous day!

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day when all God's *children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."

And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's *children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the Old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last

* According to the scriptures, a person must be born again before they can be a child of God. Everyone on this earth are all part of God's creation, but you must be saved in order to be a child of God.

What is the Motivation Behind Blaming Sarah Palin, Prominent Conservatives, and Right-Wing Vitriol for the Tucson Massacre?

Following the terrible shootings in Tucson, Arizona, last Saturday, the left-wing media, starting with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, was analyzing the cause of the shootings.  He made reference to the vitriol from the "right-wing" from such people as Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman in creating the climate which led to Jared Loughner shooting 20 people last Saturday.  Last Saturday, I saw Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik echoing the same comments that Paul Krugman did when he was interviewed on Fox News.  The Left has wasted no time in tying the shooting incident to talk radio, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Sharron Angle, the Tea Party, and those that espouse the conservative point of view.  Bill O'Reilly pointed out all those on the Left that were blaming Sarah Palin and the "right-wingers" for the shooting spree that took place in Tucson last Saturday evening.  O'Reilly did a masterful job on exposing the smear merchants on the Left for their rush to judgment.  Anybody that has any sense whatsoever knows the shooting didn't take place because of conservative talk radio or prominent conservative figures.  One pundit stated that Palin has "blood on her hands" because of the "cross hairs" that she used during the 2010 elections where she targeted the Democratic congressional districts where Democrats were vulnerable in those districts.  One of those districts that was targeted was Arizona District 8, the district that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords represents.  The cross hairs are political metaphors that are used by both parties when plotting strategy in determining the probability of how many seats the respective party may be capable of winning during the elections.  It's political war room strategy.

During this past week during the memorial service in Tucson and following, President Obama has been calling for a change in the tone of the rhetoric that's being used.  He was calling for both parties to engage in civil discourse.  There's been talk that both the Democrats and Republicans might sit together during the "State of the Union" address this coming week.  Traditionally, one party sits on one side and the other party on the other side.  There's been the call for bipartisanship, which is nothing but a farce.  I guarantee you if one of Congress's donors needs money to bail them out, there would be a dramatic show of bipartisanship to rescue their donors.  That was the case in October 2008 during the mortgage bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  That type of bipartisanship was not good for the average American.  Congress was coming to the rescue of their political donors.  The ruling elites, as I call them, have a purpose behind all this talk about toning down the strong partisanship in Congress.  There's a purpose behind the liberal media blaming talk radio, and conservative personalities for the shooting spree in Arizona.  The purpose behind all that is the agenda.

I made the comments since the shooting took place the purpose behind the media criticizing Sarah Palin and other conservatives for creating the atmosphere behind the shooting spree is to give Congress the excuse to clamp down on our free speech rights.  James Clyburn, former House Majority Whip in Congress (D-SC), made the statement this past week that the Fairness Doctrine needs to be reinstated.  The Left desires to clamp down on free speech.  However, there's a purpose behind that.  Within the last several years going all the way back to George H.W. Bush in the early 90's, America has been headed down the pathway to socialism.  Since President Obama was elected in 2008, the federal government has made that reality even more possible with the recent passage of healthcare last March.  In order to create a socialist society, there are a number of things that must be done to make that a reality.  One of those is to collapse the economy.  Efforts have been made to collapse America's economy for a long time.  The dollar is very unstable in the world market.  China owns much of America's debt.  Another method used to create a socialist society is to stifle free speech.  The ruling elite know the average American is opposed to socialism.  Only a few elites support socialism as an ideal.  The only way Americans will accept socialism is to be forced through a set of circumstances to accept socialism.  These planners thrive on secrecy.  If they are going to transform America into a socialist society, they must do their work in secrecy.  Americans must be ignorant of the new world order agenda, which is the ultimate goal of these global elitists.  We're closer to the threshold of a new world order now more than ever.  One of the things that disturb the elected elite is with the advent of the new media.  Americans today possess all types of choices to draw their information.  In addition to television, there's talk radio and the internet.  There are several websites dedicated to warning people about the agenda of the new world order.  In order for the elitists to proceed forth with their agenda, they want to silence those that disagree with their agenda.  That's why they are quick to "jump to conclusions" and blame conservatives for creating the "atmosphere" behind the Tucson shootings.

Anybody that's aware of current events and the globalists' agenda shouldn't be surprised they would be quick to discredit conservatives.  Former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel under President Obama stated we can't allow a good crisis to go to waste.  That's what's the media is doing.  They see this as an opportunity to restrict the rights of free speech.  They want to silence Rush Limbaugh and others who criticize the Progressive agenda of the Left.  Another issue which I haven't covered is the government will use this tragedy as an excuse to restrict the rights of Americans to own handguns.  They are looking for an excuse to violate the 2nd amendment and the Left see this shooting as an incident to take away peoples' guns.

I believe this shooting could've been prevented if the local authorities in Pima County would've provided security last Saturday when Gabrielle Giffords hosted "Congress at Your Corner" at Safeway Supermarket in Tucson.  Given the reality that most Americans don't trust Congress nowadays, you would think anytime there's an event taking place where the constituents are meeting with their representatives, security would be provided.  I know there is security provided in local sporting events in the area in which I live.  If it's important for security to be provided at local sporting events, then why wouldn't security be provided at a political event, given the political climate in today's society?  Let's stop blaming conservatives for the shooting that took place last Saturday.  The blame squarely belongs on Jared Loughner.  The whole purpose of this blame game is to give Congress the excuse to clamp down on the free speech rights of the American people as well as clamp down on Americans' right to own handguns.

United States Economy Collapsing

"I am a most unhappy man.  I have unwittingly ruined my country.  A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit.  Our system of credit is unconcentrated.  The growth of the nation, therefore, and all of our activities are in the hands of a few men.  We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world.  No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of men."

This was a quote attributed to Woodrow Wilson in 1919.  There has been dispute whether or not he made that quote.  Regardless whether he made that quote or not, the statement contained in that quote is true.  We are enslaved by a group of international bankers.

Giffords Recovery Remarkable; According to Doctors

 nightline:

Navy Capt. Mark Kelly holds wife Gabrielle Giffords’ hand, in a picture released this evening by the congresswoman’s office.

(USA Today January 14, 2005) Here is the latest update concerning the medical condition of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:  Neurosurgon Michael Lemole said Thursday that Rep. Giffords is yawning, rubbing her eyes and showing clear signs that she's awakening and "starting to become aware of her surroundings."  Five days after emergency surgery for a gunshot wound to the brain, doctors have already begun physical therapy, dangling Giffords' legs off the bed and asking her to lift them.  "She's able to move her legs on command," said Lemole, of University Medical Center in Tucson,.  "That's huge.  She's moving both her legs."  Even though her condition is still critical, doctors say her progress bodes well for her long-term recovery, though they say it's too early to tell how she'll progress.

During Saturday's shooting, a bullet struck the left side of her brain, home to nerves controlling language and vision. The region also governs the movement on the right side of Giffords' body, which is why doctors say her leg movements are such a good sign.  Giffords startled her husband, her doctors, and a roomful of friends from the House and Senate on Wednesday by opening her left eye, moments after President Obama stepped out into the hallway.  During a memorial service that evening, the president stated that Gabby opened her eyes for the first time.

According to the news today, Giffords is even able to communicate with her hands.  They are hoping that within the next few days they'll be able to remove her tube which snakes through her vocal cords into her lungs, making speaking impossible.  Giffords is breathing on her own.

Our prayers go out to Giffords and we hope she recovers soon.

Video of President Obama addressing the memorial service

(USA Today January 13, 2011)  Yesterday evening President Obama addressed a memorial service for those killed and injured in the shooting spree on Saturday January 8, 2011.  The president urged Americans to "make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds."  He was calling for a civil discourse.  The president stated he visited Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, a Democrat who was critically wounded by the assassination attempt, at the hospital.  He said that after his visit, "Gabby opened her eyes for the first time.  She knows we are here.  She knows that we love her.  And she knows we are rooting for her."  An overflow crowd at the University of Arizona's McKale Memorial Center, site of a community memorial service, erupted in cheers.  Michelle Obama hugged Gifford's husband.  The president and his wife flew here for a tribute to the victims of Saturday's shooting rampage that killed six people and left 13 wounded.  Giffords, whom authorities claim she was the target, survived a bullet through the left side of her brain.

The president and his wife flew for a tribute to the victims of Saturday's shooting rampage that killed six people and left 13 wounded.  In an address intended to comfort this grieving city as well as a stunned nation, Obama mentioned heroic actions of doctors and bystanders after the shooting, and spoke about the lives of each of the six killed, from U.S. District Judge John Roll to nine-year old Christina Taylor-Green, a Little League Baseball player and student council member.  She was born on September 11, 2001.  "Our hearts are broken by their sudden passing," Obama said.  He claims the violence has already stirred worthy discussions about preventing future tragedies, from gun safety to care for the mentally ill.  He also added a note about the political debate.  "At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized," he said, "at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who happen to think differently than we do--it's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds."

Following the event, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, (D-FL), told CNN she was in Giffords' hospital room with House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).  Wasserman Schultz claimed doctors couldn't believe it.  She said it was the most incredible experience that she ever had.  This morning, both Wasserman Schultz and Gillibrand spoke on Fox & Friends speaking of the improvement that Giffords has made in the last few days.

The suspected shooter, Jared Loughner, 22, is in custody facing federal murder and assault charges.  There is more evidence about his troubled life through police reports.  There are details of a chaotic three hours before the shooting when Loughner argued with his father, fled into the desert on foot, was stopped for driving through a red light, shopped for ammunition and took a taxi to the suburban shopping center where Giffords was meeting with constituents.

In the last several days starting with Pima County sheriff Clarence Dupnik, the national media is trying to blame Giffords' shooting on right-wing rhetoric and people such as Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle, Rush Limbaugh, and the list continues.  The problem isn't conservative talk radio or "conservative" political opponents.  I doubt this shooting was even political.  There are some people that are psycho paths and they are bent on murdering people.  History is replete with those kinds of people.  We've had shootings of political figures long before conservative talk radio became prominent in America.  The Left wants to use this as an excuse to clamp down on free speech rights and silence the political opposition.  Loughner or anyone directly associated with this crime should be held responsible--not right-wing partisan rhetoric nor left-wing partisan rhetoric.

Tom DeLay "The Hammer" Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Tom DeLay Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
DeLay at the Travis Co. Courthouse in Austin, Texas (AP)

(USA Today January 11, 2011) Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was sentenced Monday to three years in prison for his role in a money-laundering case stemming from the 2002 elections.  DeLay, who was the second most powerful Republican in the House of Representatives, was convicted in November for illegally funneling $190,000 in corporate money through the Republican National Committee to help elect Republicans to the Texas Legislature during the 2002 elections.  Texas Judge Pat Priest sentenced DeLay to three years on a conspiracy charge and also sentenced him to five years in prison for money laundering.  Priest allowed DeLay to accept 10 years probation on the money-laundering charge, assuming he meets certain conditions set by the court.  DeLay could've received up to life in prison on the money-laundering and conspiracy charges.

DeLay was immediately taken into custody.  However, Priest granted a request from his attorneys that he be released on a $10,000 bond pending appeal once he is processed at the county jail.  Prosecutors said it could mean DeLay will be free for months or even years as his appeal makes it through the Texas court system.  DeLay was nonchalant in court over the verdict.  "I can't be remorseful for something I don't think I did," he said.  DeLay stepped down from Congress and the no. 2 position in the House in 2006.  He held the no. 2 position from 2003 to 2005.  Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, DeLay's former boss, attested to the character of his top lieutenant in court Monday.  Hastert spoke of DeLay's conservative and religious values, his work helping foster children and the help he provided to the family of one of the police officers who was killed in a 1998 shooting at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.

DeLay, 63, maintained his innocence even after he was convicted last year, arguing a "miscarriage of justice" and denounced what he called "the criminalizaiton of politics."  DeLay's attorney Dick DeGuerin said he expected the conviction would be overturned.  "This will not stand," he said.

How many other politicians in Congress have been guilty of money laundering such as DeLay and they're still serving in Congress?  I would speculate several.  DeLay's one politician that I'm glad is no longer in Congress.

Jared Loughner Known for Bizarre Behavior

Jared Lee Loughner

(USA Today January 10, 2011) Jared Louhner, the shooting suspect who attempted to assassinate Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, had a reputation for strange behavior.  When he first showed up for his first algebra class at the local community college last summer, he was at odds with people around him.  "He was one of the last kids to come in, and he sat down and almost immediately started laughing to himself in a way that was just kind of creepy," recalls Alex Kotonias, 20, who sat behind him.  "And then, as soon as the teacher started going over the syllabus, he had this outburst out of nowhere, didn't even raise his hand, and started asking the teacher some sort of weird questions about whether he believed in mind control."  Adjunct professor Ben McGahee, 28, says, "I remember going home and thinking to myself, 'Is he going to bring a weapon to class?"  It was the sort of behavior that led Pima Community College officials to send a pair of campus police officers to the home of Loughner's parents in September with a letter suspending him from school.  Citing an Internet posting under Loughner's name asserting that the school had no constitutional authority to exist, he was told he could not return without a letter from a mental health professional saying "his presence at the college does not present a danger to himself or others," according to a statement issued by the college.

Loughner, charged with critically wounding Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on Saturday in a shooting spree that killed six and wounded 13 others, is described by acquaintances in terms that have become familiar for suspects in violent rampages: a loner, short-tempered, bitter.  He's had minor run-ins with the law.  He had started posting anti-government rants on the Internet  Until just hours before police say he opened fire on a congresswoman and her constituents, Loughner left few public clues to any violent intent.  At 5:00 that morning, in the last post on his MySpace page, he wrote "Goodbye."  "Dear friends," he added, "Please don't be mad at me."  Loughner lived at the home owned by his parents, a single-story house in a middle-class neighborhood.  They have not spoken publicly since his arrest.  Neighbors describe him as a loner, often seen walking his dogs in a dark, hooded sweatshirt and headphones.  He "kept to himself," says neighbor Anthony Woods, 19, however, he was prone to occasional outbursts.  Woods recalls Lougner standing on the corner, cursing loudly because the trash hadn't been picked up on time.  Loughner has no criminal convictions despite two arrests.

On September 9, 2007, the day before his 19th birthday, he was arrested in Pima County for possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was sentenced to attend classes in a diversion program that led to the charge being dismissed.  Just over a year later, on October 17, 2008, he was charged with a graffiti misdemeanor in Marana.  A police report claimed he drew a stylized CX on a street sign.  He claimed it was a symbol for Christian.  That charge was also dismissed after Loughner completed a diversion program and paid restitution.

In recent months, he began posting anti-government writings on various websites.  Some were about "mind control", others questioned the government's authority.  "Read the United States of America's Constitution to apprehend all of the current treasonous laws," he wrote in a white text on a black background in a YouTube video.  "If the property owners and government officials are no longer in ownership of their land and laws from a revolution then the revolutionary's from the revolution are in control of the land and laws..."  He sometimes spoke of his mind-control fears in outbursts at the community college this last summer, classmates say.  After just one week of classes, Loughner proved so disruptive and belligerent that his algebra teacher saw him as a threat.  McGahee says school officials at one point posted a security officer in the classroom.  He described Loughner as not overtly hostile but prone to bizarre, sometimes confrontational outbursts in which his face would become "bright red."  McGahee stated he felt like he was a threat.  Loughner was suspended halfway into the eight-week course.  About two months later, police say Loughner went to Sportsman's Warehouse in Tucson and purchased the Glock 9mm handgun that he's suspected of using in Saturday's shooting.

The Murder of Elected Officials is Unjustifiable

I had intentions on continuing the series on "Appreciation" which I started last Sunday.  Due to the shooting incident that took place in Tucscon, Arizona yesterday morning, I'm going to continue the series on "Appreciation" next Sunday.  I have another thought that I'm going to deal with today.  I'm going to deal with the subject concerning murder.  Genesis 9:6 says, "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man."  This verse tells you what God's thoughts are concerning murder.  In the few chapters preceding chapter 9, you read about the world's first murderer, which was Cain.  We read about both Cain and Abel bringing their sacrifices to God.  Abel brought the firstlings of his flock and the fat thereof before God.  Cain brought of the fruit of the ground as an offering to God.  Verse 5 mentions that God didn't respect Cain's offering because it was the wrong type of offering he presented before God.  As a result Cain was wroth and became jealous of Abel.  Verse 8 says that Cain talked with Abel and both were in the field.  Cain rose up against Abel and slew him.  As a result of the murder, God drove Cain from his family and he became a fugitive and a vagabond.  He went out from the presence of the Lord and he dwelt in the land of Nod, on the East of Eden.  Cain had to pay a price for slaying Abel.

In the book of Exodus, God gives Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai.  The sixth commandment is "Thou shalt not kill."  It means thou shalt not commit murder.  There is a difference.  The online definition of murder is the unlawful killing of one human by another; especially with premeditated malice.  The online definition of kill is to put to death, to deprive of life.  The meaning of the sixth commandment is saying that nobody has the right to unlawfully kill or commit murder.  However, you can kill an animal and it not be murder.  You can fight in a war and kill some of the enemy soldiers.  But that doesn't make it murder.  Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being.  There's no just cause in killing that person.  Genesis 9:6 makes the case for the death penalty or capital punishment.  When a person commits murder, lawful authorities have the right to place the accuser on trial and then impose the death penalty on them.  However, there are appropriate personnel involved when it comes to justice.  That's why we have government.  The purpose of government is to restrain the lawless and punish the wrongdoer.  Killing the murderer through the means of the death penalty is justified before God provided that lawful authorities are in charge of executing the death penalty.

Yesterday a great tragedy took place in Tucson, Arizona at the Safeway Supermarket.  Jared Loughner, a 22 year old "maniac" as I refer to him, pulled out his 9 mm gun and shot 21 rounds of shots and wounded approximately 13 people.  Six people were killed.  One of those was a nine year old girl who was born on 9/11, the day of the 9/11 attacks.  Another person that was killed was a 76 year old man who tried to shield his wife.  Also, a federal District Judge by the name of John M. Roll was murdered.  One of the wounded was 40-year old Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, a three-term Democratic Congresswoman.  She was holding a rally called, "Congress at Your Corner", which was an opportunity for Arizona's constituents of the 8th District to get to speak to their Congresswoman.  Sadly, it turned out to be something totally different.  A bullet entered through her temples and went out her forehead.  She was rushed straight to the hospital.  She's currently in critical condition, but doctors are cautiously expecting her to recover.  Loughner has been arrested by the police.  He should receive a fair trial and be given the death penalty for his actions.  I will be speaking more of this latest tragedy in the days to come.

There will be many in the left wing media who will be and are currently pointing fingers at the Tea Party and Sarah Palin for the actions of Jared Loughner.  They want to tie him in with those on the right who are opposed to the leftists in their attempts to transform America into a socialist country.  The truth of the matter is it's his fault for his actions.  Let's assign blame where blame is due.  Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnick wants to blame all the vitriol from the right for the shooting of Giffords.  Last year she voted for the controversial healthcare bill that many Americans are opposed to.  Last year following the House's historic vote to overhaul healthcare, Giffords' Tucson office was vandalized.  Giffords supports Obama on some issues.  She's liberal when it comes to her views on abortion, healthcare, and even border security.  She wasn't in support of the immigration bill that the Arizona legislature passed last year, which was a bill imposing tougher security measures along the Arizona border.

Many Americans are very frustrated at the level of complacency and incompetence the federal government has been displaying the last several years.  I believe Americas' level of frustration toward the federal government has almost reached a boiling point within the last three or four years.  Our elected officials need to understand that.  We've elected several new freshmen Republican in the House and we are hoping that they will change things in Washington.  Only time will reveal whether they will.  However, we have a group of establishment Republicans who could care less about the outcome of last November's vote.  Trent Lott, a former Senator from Mississippi and now a lobbyist, made the statement last year that he was desiring to see the Tea Party candidates who are elected to Congress to be co-opted into the system.  The RINO's don't care about the message the American people sent during last year's election.  It appears it no longer makes any difference who we vote for.  We vote for a candidate one election cycle, throw him out the next, and still continue having the same old business like always regardless who's elected.  It's ridiculous.  In saying all of that, I'm not justifying the actions of Loughner.  There's never an excuse to murder an elected official.  God says in His word that murder is a sin.  The media wants to blame the American people because they don't agree with the agenda of the federal government.  The problem is the government.  They aren't responsive to those they are to represent.  Those that have been elected by their constituents need to listen to their constituents and pass laws that are constitutional and good for the well-being of America.

I have a message to the average voter.  The Constitution makes a provision to the American people concerning removing elected officials.  The means that the average voter has at their disposal is the ballot box.  Every two years we have federal elections.  Every four years we have a presidential election.  If you don't like the direction your Congressmen or Senator is taking your country, then you have the responsibility to vote them out in the next election.  If you choose to re-elect them, then you can't complain if you re-elect them and you know they are crooked.  When we repeatedly re-elect incumbents over and over again, we are getting the government we deserve.  I do understand that today most of the choices we have are between the lesser-of-two-evils.  I understand that.  However, we can't continually re-elect the same old crooks continually and expect our government to change for the better.  We need to purge out Congress through the ballot box.  In other words, we need to vote out the Congessmen and those Senators up for re-election in droves.  That's our only hope.

There's no excuse for the murder of an elected official--regardless of how crooked they are.  I have no use for House Minority Nancy Pelosi.  I am opposed to her policies as well as the means she uses to push her agenda through.  However, I'm totally opposed to any harm being done to Ms. Pelosi.  You don't inflict violence on elected officials to correct wrongs.  The government will use this shooting as an excuse to clamp down on talk radio and America's right to free speech.  The Constitution provides the method to removing elected officials who are taking America down the wrong path.  That method is the ballot box.  The attempted assassination of Gabrielle Giffords was totally inexcusable and wicked.  Lougner deserves the death penalty.  Murder only excerbates the problem.  It doesn't solve anything.  Murder and violence are sinful and anti-American.

Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona Shot; Long Road to Recovery Expected

Gabrielle Giffords being sworn in by House Speaker John Boehner

(Fox News January 8, 2011) Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was fatally shot by a gunman while holding a public event today.  She was hosting the "Congress on Your Corner" event at Safeway Supermarket in Tucscon, Arizona.  She was shot along with several other people.  After first reading about the shooting on the Fox News.Com website earlier today, I linked onto another website which stated that she was fatally shot.  Thankfully that wasn't a true statement.  I spent a few hours this afternoon watching Shepherd Smith and Jon Scott on Fox News elaborating on the shooting.  It was a very tragic and senseless shooting.  I was checking YouTube, her own website, and other websites to try to learn more about this Congresswoman and her views.  Giffords, who is known as "Gabby" to her colleagues on Capitol Hill, describes herself as a "Blue dog" Democrat who is a fiscal conservative and supposedly moderate on other issues.  She's liberal on some issues.  She is a gun owner and claims she supports the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms.  She is Jewish.  She is a staunch abortion-rights advocate and also is a strong advocate of solar energy.  She supported the healthcare bill which was passed by Congress on March 22, 2010 and signed by President Obama a day later.  Her office in Tucscon was vandalized following the vote she cast for the new healthcare bill.  She was criticized by Tea Party members due to her support of Obamacare.  She was targeted by Sarah Palin on her website using images of gun sights to identify 20 Democrats, including Miss Giffords, for backing President Obama's new healthcare law.  In an article from "World Net Daily", her father said that the whole Tea Party were her enemies.

Giffords is a three-term Democrat.  She was first elected to Congress in 2006 amidst voter discontent with the Republican Party's performance in Congress and the presidency.  Jeff Kolbe, the former Congressman of the eighth district in Arizona, chose not to run in 2006 so it left an open seat.  In last year's election, she narrowly defeated Tea Party candidate Jesse Kelly in a close election contest.  She was sworn in for her third term this past Wednesday.  She also took part in the reading of the U.S. Constitution on Thursday, reciting the First Amendment.  Yesterday, she was a guest on Fox News "American Newsroom" and was interviewed by Bill Hemmer.  She is married to Mark E. Kelly, a NASA Astronaut.  The bullet went all the way through her head.  It went through her temples and came out through her forehead.  As of this moment, she is responsive to doctor's commands.  According to the latest news, authorities are now saying that Loughner might not have acted alone.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said Giffords was the target of a gunman whom he described as mentally unstable and possibly acting along with an accomplice.  He said Giffords was among 13 people wounded.  As of what I know, a nine year old girl has been killed and a federal district court judge named John M. Roll was killed.  Roll has served as District Judge for almost 20 years.  He was appointed by former President George H.W. Bush in 1991.  The name of the shooter in custody is Jared Loughner.  Pima County Sheriff's officials say Loughner used a 9 mm pistol to carry out the attack.  A former classmate stated that Loughner was a pot-smoking loner who had rambling beliefs about the world.  He stated that there needed to be invented a new U.S. currency and complained about the illiteracy rate among the residents in the eighth Congressional district in which Giffords resides.

I want to say in closing that I hope Giffords recovers soon.  As much as I'm opposed to her politics, there's no excuse for the wicked, unlawful assassination attempted by Loughner.  The U.S. Constitution guarantees us a method for protesting unconstitutional laws.  Every two years there are federal elections.  If we are displeased with our elected representatives, we vote them out.  Assassinating public officials is never justifiable.  I can't imagine how the Left-wing media will be reacting to this in the next few days.  I will speak more about this shooting in future posts.

What Republicans Must do in the 112th Congress

Freshmen-class-112th-Congress-300x186

Yesterday, the 112th Congress began a new session.  There were a large group of Republican freshmen that were elected to both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.  The House is now controlled by Republicans.  The Senate still maintains a Democratic majority, but the Republicans made inroads to the Senate in November's election.  Many people are expecting things will change in Washington due to the election results in November.  Republicans are promising to seize control of spending and balance the budget.  One of the hot topics that's on the agenda for next week is a vote for the repeal of Obamacare, which was passed by Congress last March.  There are high hopes for this year's new Congress.  I will say that if the new Republicans don't take charge and steer our government in a totally different direction, then our country will no longer be the same.  We're headed for some dark days as a country.

This is a very crucial time in the history of our country.  The Republicans who ran for Congress and won seats need to recognize that they aren't there to become career politicians.  They are not there to treat Congress like a normal career.  They are supposed to be there to serve their constituents.  They are to look out for the best interests of America--not necessarily to become rich while in office.  We need elected officials which will determine in their hearts and minds they will become overt patriots when they serve in Congress.  In other words, they're not there to make backroom deals or to appease special interest groups.  They are there to serve the public.  They are there to uphold the U.S. Constitution.  If they refuse to uphold the U.S. Constitution, then they need to be sent back home during the next election cycle.  We can no longer afford any more of this "business-as-usual."

One of the new traditions that Congress is beginning is to read the Constitution aloud when opening each day's session.  I agree that's something they must do.  There are those that will argue reading the Constitution aloud is nothing but symbolic or those that support the reading aloud of the Constitution have a fetish for it.  We need members of Congress to have a fetish for the Constitution.  Congress is supposed to abide by the Constitution concerning legislation that they vote on.  Members of Congress take an oath to uphold the Constitution.  Therefore they are to follow it.  Otherwise they will become traitors to our country.  Any bill that they try to pass which isn't supported by the Constitution shouldn't be voted on.  It would do well for members of Congress to read the Constitution to remind them what the Constitution contains and what their boundaries are as a lawmaker.  Reading the Constitution aloud is a first good step.

Another thing the Republicans in Congress need to do is to defund Obamacare; not waste their time to vote to repeal it.  Why do I say that?  There's no way this current Congress can repeal it.  The votes aren't there in the Senate.  Also, President Obama will veto it.  It's normally very difficult for Congress to override a presidential veto.  However, the House has jurisdiction over spending.  The House can defund Obamacare.  That makes more sense than trying to attempt to repeal a bill they don't have the votes for.  They can try that method in another Congress when both Houses are Republican and the president is Republican.  I guarantee you all efforts to repeal Obamacare will come to a naught.  On top of that, I don't believe that Obamacare will be defunded.  I wish that was the case, but I don't have much faith in the House Republicans to do the right thing.

The Republicans also need to refuse to raise the debt ceiling.  They need to rein in spending.  They need to make some massive cuts in the budget, which includes their own Congressional budget as well as many pork barreling projects and many programs already in Congress.  Also government needs to be scaled back as well.  Some of the cabinets in the executive department need to be eliminated such as the Department of Commerce, Energy, Homeland Security, and even Education.  I'm certain there are some other cabinets that need to be eliminated as well.  There's way too much government bureaucracy.  Many positions in government need to be eliminated such as many of the czar posts.  I'm not going to take time to list all the positions in government that need to be eliminated.  However, numerous positions can be eliminated.  Even though this will never happen, I would like to see Congress detach itself from the Federal Reserve and once again Congress return to coining America's currency.  The Federal Reserve is unconstitutional.  They are part of the problem in our national debt being so high.

The Republican Congress also need to place an ultimatum to the Defense Department that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan need to wind down soon.  The costs of these wars over the last ten years is astronomical.  Why are we still in both Iraq and Afghanistan?   The government has no goal to win those wars.  As a result, there's no sense in wasting taxpayer dollars to continuing funding those wars.  Our troops should be pulled out and they should come home.

This has to be the year that the 112th Congress is going to make some drastic changes when it comes to funding government.  We are about to experience a meltdown when it comes to our economy.  China has been purchasing our debt.  We are a debtor nation to China.  China will be able to dictate what takes place in our country before too long.  The world market will eventually stop purchasing goods in dollars if Congress doesn't change its spending habits.  It must happen NOW!!!  TOMORROW IS TOO LATE!!!!

President Obama's Controversial Recess Appointments

(ABC News) During his vacation in Hawaii last week, President Obama has used his recess appointment power to fill six administration posts, some controversial, such as Washington attorney James Cole as deputy attorney general and Robert Ford as U.S. ambassador to Syria.  The White House's justification for the recess appointments is because the positions have been vacant for way too long and they needed to be filled.  Among some of the other appointments are four U.S. ambassadors to Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Syria and Turkey--whose nominations were stalled in the Senate.  The appointment of Ford as ambassador to Syria raised concerns on the Hill that such a move would be rewarding Damascus for bad behavior.

After Obama's recess appointment of Ford, the incoming Republican chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, (R-FL), who has promised to push back against the Obama administration's foreign policy, issued a paper statement slamming the move as "regrettable."  "During the past two years, Syria has continued to sponsor violent extremism and pursue dangerous weapons programs, and has also supplied long-range missiles to Hezbollah and reasserted its destabilizing influence in Lebanon at the expense of that nation's sovereignty," Ros-Lehtinen said.  Ros-Lehtinen said that making undeserved concessions to Syria tells the regime in Damascus that it can continue to pursue its dangerous agenda and not face any consequences from the U.S.  She claims it sends the wrong message to a regime which continues to harm and threaten U.S. interests and those of such critical allies as Israel.  Other recess appointments have faced opposition as well.

Frank Ricciardone has his nomination as envoy to Turkey help up by former Senator Sam Brownback, (R-KS), who has now retired from the Senate, over concerns about his approach to human rights when ambassador to Egypt.  Matt Byrza, the nominee as ambassador to Azerbaijan, was held up by Democratic Senators Barbara Boxer of California and Robert Menendez of New Jersey over criticism from an Armenian-American group over the Obama administration's opposition to a Congressional resolution condemning the 1915 Armenian genocide.  Norm Eisen, nominated as ambassador to the Czech Republic, was formerly the administration's "ethics czar," and had been held up by Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), over an entirely unrelated issue--his role in the firing of an inspector general for the Corporation for National and Community Service in June 2009.

Cole's nomination as deputy attorney general had been held up for months over his ties to AIG, with Republicans questioning his role as an independent consultant prior to the company's near-collapse in 2008.  Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, praised the Cole's appointment, and said the delays in considering his nomination were unnecessary and wrong.  Republicans have focused on a 2002 column written by Cole that criticized the Bush administration's battle against terrorism.  A president can make recess appointments when the Senate is adjourned for the session, and the appointments last until the end of the next session.

Former Bush Aide Found Murdered in Landfill

(Fox News January 3, 2011) A man who fought to get the Vietnam Veterans Memorial built and served under former Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush, was murdered, according to Delaware police.  John P. Wheeler III, was found dead in a Delaware landfill.  Wheeler's body was found Friday after a disposal truck containing his body made pickups in Newark.  His death is ruled a homicide by the Newark, Delaware police.  They are asking the public for leads in the case.

Wheeler, who had lived in New Castle, Delaware, was chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund when Ronald Reagan was president.  He also held many high-profile government positions after graduating from West Point in 1966.  He was an experienced business turnaround consultant.  Police believe Wheeler's body has been placed inside one of the bins in Newark before a disposal truck arrived.  The Newark Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding Wheeler's homicide to contact them at 1-800-TIP-3333.

This whole scenario raises many questions.  Anytime I hear of a public official being murdered, I wonder is there some kind of coverup involved?  I know I sound like some kind of conspiracy theorist, but you wonder when a murder of some government official takes place, was his murder premeditated?  Was there something he was wanting to reveal involving illegal governmental activities and those elites in the higher echelons of government decided to stop him before he blows the whistle?  I don't have any proof whatsoever.  I'm just speculating.  I first heard this story a couple of hours ago on Fox News.  As of right now, we don't know much about the situation.  I believe these are questions worth asking.  Only time and more evidence will reveal who was responsible for Wheeler's murder and what was the motive behind it.
