Obama to Congress: I Don't Need Your Authorization for War, But Give It to Me Anyway

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/obama-congress-i-dont-need-your-authorization-war-give-it-me-anyway

President Barack Obama

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that President Obama has that attitude.  The last few presidents have had that attitude.  Who cares about the Constitution?  If we want something done, we'll bypass the Constitution.  That's the same mentality Obama's predecessor George W. Bush had and that's the same mentality that Obama has.  He said today in a speech in the White House Rose Garden that he's asking Congress to give him authorization to strike in Syria.  He said he doesn't need their approval, but give it to him anyway.

The Constitution states in Article 1 Section 8 that the declaration of war wrests with Congress.  It's the Commander-in-Chief's job to oversee the war.  James Madison did state in his notes, in which he proposed that Congress have the power to decide when the nation should initiate the use of military force.  If Congress is the body that's supposed to declare war, then it brings accountability into the equation and it's a check on the president when it comes to his powers during time of war.

Obama Says U.S. Has 'Obligation' to Act on Syria, Cites Intel Findings

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/30/kerry-says-clear-evidence-chemical-weapons-used-in-syria-as-intelligence/

President Barack Obama

Facing skepticism in Congress and abroad, President Obama and his top cabinet advisors set out to make the case for intervening in Syria.  It released an "intelligence report" showing "high confidence" that the Assad regime was responsible for carrying out the strike and respondiung in the best interest of the U.S.  Obama also said the U.S. could act alone in punishing Syria for a chemical weapons attack last week.  He said that the U.S., being the leader of the free world, has an obligation to hold rogue regimes accountable for breaching the rules of war.  To read the full story, click on the above link from FoxNews.com.

British Lawmakers Reject Military Action in Syria, a Setback to the Obama Administration

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/29/syria-strike-push-hits-hurdles/

British lawmakers say voted against military intervention in Syria, in a major setback for both the British Prime Minister David Cameron and the Obama administration, in their push to punish the Assad regime for an alleged chemical weapons attacks.  The U.K. vote was a preliminary measure but not technically binding.  Prime Minister Cameron will look for other ways to round up support.  Polls in the United States have shown a similar distaste for military action in Syria.  President Obama however, is trying to persuade Congress on the need to respond.  House Speaker John Boehner stated that President Obama needs to present a clear 'unambiguous' reason on how a military strike in Syria would serve U.S. interests.  To read the full story, click on the above link from FoxNews.com.

$1.5B for 'Youth Jobs' Fund'? Critics Pan Pork in Senate Immigration Bill

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/26/15b-for-youth-jobs-fund-critics-pan-pork-in-senate-immigration-bill/

 Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)

Anytime there's a major bill that passes the Senate such as the immigration back in June, you know there's all kinds of pork that's going to be loaded in there.  Lawmakers say that it's packed with pork barrel projects ranging in $1.5 billion for 'youth jobs fund' to millions for immigrants for immigrant support groups.  Senators and Congressmen always sign on to get their share of the pork in a bill which is of a total different nature.  It's ridiculous.  Since our politicians have numerous cronies they use bills such as this to pay back favors to those that helped them to get re-elected.  It's ridiculous.  The pork barreling and the whole immigraiton bill is ridiculous.  We have a set of immigration laws that our elected elite refuse to follow.  They are nothing but traitors to the Constitution when they won't protect this country's borders nor regulate the number of immigrants that come to our country.

Ted Cruz Doubles Down to Threat to Defund Obamacare, Proposes Alternatives

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/aug/25/sen-ted-cruz-doubles-down-defunding-obamacare-thre/

Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican (Associated Press)Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas has doubled down on his long shot bid to defund Obamacare, even though Senate Democrats are highly unlikely to approve a short-term spending bill this September that impugns President Obama's signature domestic achievement, according to the Washington Times

The House of Representatives is the body that's responsible for approving spending bills.  The House is the body responsible for defunding Obamacare.  I don't see any Republican in the House that has the political will to defund it.  House Speaker John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor surely aren't going to influence the defunding of it.  I don't see any of the so-called conservatives in the House such as Michelle Bachman take the bull by the horns to get it accomplished.  It's all talk.  When it's all said and done, Obamacare will still be funded by the federal government.  The federal government isn't going to stop the defunding of Obamacare.

U.S. Tax Dollars Help Fund U.N. 'Hate' Camp in Gaza

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/08/22/us-tax-dollars-help-fund-un-hate-camp-in-gaza-documentary/

Palestinian children as young as five years old are taught to hate Jews, glorify martyrs, and support jihad, and tragically a U.S. fundede United Nations agency is helping to underwrite the effort, according to a controversial new documentary.

It's a great tragedy the propaganda that's being fed to young children in the Palestinian world that Israel is the enemy and that jihad is just.  They are taught to be martyrs for the sake of Allah.  What a twisted way of thinking in the religious sense.  What makes it worse is the U.S. government is behind funding it.  God help us.  To read the full story, click on the above link from FoxNews.com.

Sebulius: Debate Over Health Care Law is Over

As much as I hate to say it I'm afraid she's correct.  The GOP isn't going to do anything to stop or slow the implentation of Obamacare.  If anything, they're helping to facilitate the Affordble Health Care Act's agenda.  It's all a facade.  If the Republicans were serious about defunding Obamacare, they would've already done so.  I have no time for them.  To read the full story, click on the link above.

Before the Income Tax

Before the Income TaxThomas Jefferson's photo on the $2 bill, which once was in circulation in America up to the early 80's.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/history/item/14268-before-the-income-tax

Americans who were born in America from 1913 to present have always remembered the federal income tax.  Every year prior to April 15th Americans must file their federal taxes, which can be very mundane and cumbersome, depending upon your assets and what you own, for example.  However, from the years 1789-1913, the United States for the most part didn't have a national income tax, except in cases like the American Civil War, for example.  I have posted an article from New American which discusses how the federal government operated prior to the ratification of the income tax amendment in 1913.  To read the story, click on the above link from New American.

Common Core: A Scheme to Rewrite Education

Common Core: A Scheme to Rewrite Education

http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/education/item/16192-common-core-a-scheme-to-rewrite-education

I have an interesting link posted from the New American website dealing with the subject of Common Core.  It's part of the federal government's plan to nationalize America's educational system.  The government wants to implement standards in state educational systems across the United States which I believe will try to conform students to the mindset of the federal government.  It's an attempt to brainwash our school children and make them think and live according to the mindset of President Obama's socialist agenda for America.  To read the story, click on the above link from New American.

The Ever Shrinking Conservative Base of the GOP

http://www.thenewamerican.com/reviews/opinion/item/16325-the-ever-shrinking-conservative-base-of-the-gop

I've heard talk show hosts make this statement, and I've made this statement myself.  There isn't a dime's worth of difference between the two national parties.  Rence Priebus, the GOP chairman, can hold a meeting in Boston to try to mend the rifts within the Republican party all he desires.  The truth is the GOP will never again become a party to be reckoned with unless they stop pandering to fringe groups, such as the Hispanics, as the Democrats have.  They will never be legitimate as long as they're the lighter version of the Democratic Party.  They must once again embrace the principles of the U.S. Constitution, which they refuse to do.  Also, they need to stop pandering towards amnesty for illegals.  That was tried once before under Ronald Regan in 1986 and it never solved the illegal immigration issue.  They need to stand for the Constitution and follow it.  They should stand against anything and everything that wrecks the freedoms Americans enjoy and know.

Something else the GOP must do if they ever desire to be revitalized: They must stop lying.  When they campaign and say they're for repealing or slowing down the implementation of Obamacare, they better mean that instead of lying to the voters.  I guarantee you that angers numerous conservative voters.  It does me.  I have zero respect for House Speaker John Boehner who in 2010 said that Obamacare is a "job killer" and that he would do everything in his power once he becomes House Speaker to repeal or slow down Obamacare.  He hasn't done anything of the sort and he's shown what kind of traitor he is to this country.  If the Republicans are going to be deceptive when it comes to critical issues such as Obamacare, then they need to cease to make that a campaign issue.  That's why conservative voters are so infuriated with the GOP.  You can't trust them to make a concerted effort to fulfill their campaign promises.

Refusing to Defund Is the Same as Voting 'Present'

http://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/jen-kuznicki/refusing-defund-same-voting-present

Jen Kuznicki is exactly right. If the House members don't have the audacity to vote to defund Obamacare, then they're telling me and other voters that they're not serious about stopping Obamacare, I don't care what their speeches or campaign slogans say. John Boehner is a liar saying he's opposed to Obamacare when he refuses to vote to stop it. Voting present isn't the same as taking a stand and voting to defund Obamacare. If Republican or conservative members of the House won't defund Obamacare, they have no business campaigning on that issue. I'm sick of hearing House members talking about repealing Obamacare but not having the courage to defund it.  Stand up be counted and vote to defund the bill.  Otherwise, don't campaign on repealing Obamacare anymore if you won't do what is right.

California Governor Jerry Brown Signs Transgender Student Bill

California Governor Jerry Brown

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/13/california-gov-brown-signs-transgender-student-bill/

The state of California is in a huge mess morally, financially, spiritually, and politically.  It nauseating when you see the political leadership in California that signs bills that support perversion.  Governor Jerry Brown's latest move is one of them.  He signed a bill Monday which would allow the state's transgender public school students to choose which bathrooms which bathrooms they use and whether they particpate in boy or girl sports.  The law would cover the 6.2 million elementary and high school children in public schools.

What a mess!  The twisted thinking about gender shows the kind of mess we are in with this country as well as the state of California.  We definitely need the Lord to move in this country.  To read the full story, click on the above link from FoxNews.com.

Krauthammer on Democrats Owning Obamacare: They Have no Choice

Fox News Contributor Charles Krauthammer

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/12/krauthammer-on-democrats-owning-obamacare-have-no-choicetheres-no-point-in/

Charles Krauthammer told views on "Special Report with Bret Baier" on Monday evening that the Democrats in Congress have no choice but to embrace Obamacare in the 2014 midterm elections.  He said that they were already in on this issue and the only choice they have is to embrace it because they passed this bill in 2010.  I believe Krauthammer is right, unless there were any Democrats who did not only vote for the bill but didn't vote for any future bills that supported Obamacare.  Otherwise, Krauthammer is on target.  These Democrats who supported Obamacare in any way, shape, or form will have to live with the effects of their actions, even if means their defeat in 2014, which would be what's needed.  For 2014, let's vote all the incumbents out of Congress and those that are up for re-election in the Senate, both Democrat and Republican.

Obamacare Cap on Out-of-Pocket Costs Delayed

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/13/obamacare-cap-on-out-pocket-costs-delayed-in-latest-setback/

In yet another move by the Obama administration according to the New York Times today, the administration is giving employers and insurers a one-year grace period to adhere to the limit, which otherwise would have capped individual costs at $6350 a year.  The full requirement will go into effect in 2015, rather than 2014, which was the date it was originally intended to go into effect.  The means that some employers, basically those with a one-benefit provider, could use plans with higher limits or no limit at all on out-of-pocket cost expenses.  The administration supposedly earlier this year waived the requirement involving the cap on costs, but it wasn't reported until now, supposedly because it was buried under reams of regulatory material revolving around Obamacare.  The purpose of this move is supposedly to give businesses more time to comply with the new law.

I personally believe the motive behind these moves on the employer mandate and out-of-pocket expenses is due to the fact that next year is the mid-term election.  The decision is not popular with many businesses and many insurance companies and Obama wants to keep the Democratic Senate majority and he wants the House to regain its Democratic majority.  It will be more difficult for Congress to be Democratic unless those controversial provisions from the Affordable Care Act are delayed for another year.  That's just my opinion.  To read the full story, click on the above link from FoxNews.com to read the latest on this.

Senator Harry Reid: Obamacare 'Absolutely' a Step Toward a Single-Payer System

http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2013/08/10/sen-harry-reid-obamacare-absolutely-a-step-toward-a-single-payer-system/

WASHINGTON - MAY 17: Senate Majority Leader S...Senate Majority Leader Hary Reid

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's exactly right: Obamacare is a step towards a single-payer system.  That's what the government desires.  The Democrats know they couldn't pass Obamacare with a single-payer system in place back in 2010.  However, the Democrats knew that the government will outcompete any insurance company once Obamacare takes effect and eventually the insurance companies won't be able to compete with the federal government anymore.  It just takes time.  That's what Obamacare will lead to.  To read the full story, click on the link above.

Does White House Want to Say Who Lives Where in America?

http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/080813-666901-federal-rule-proposed-to-promote-fair-housing.htm

It's becoming increasingly apparent that our freedoms that we enjoy as Americans are rapidly slipping away.  We've been losing our freedoms at a rapid pace since the election of President Barack Obama.  To be candid with you, we started losing our freedoms at an accelerating pace after Congress passed the Patriot Act of 2001.  Even though George W. Bush at the time was president, we as Americans were losing many of our freedoms due to the "war on terror" that was taking place due to the September 11th terrorist attacks a month earlier.  With President Obama, his administration is dictating to Americans that they must purchase health insurance and if they don't, there will be a fine on them.  That's the result of the passage of Obamacare on March 23, 2010.  Once the key provisions of Obamacare are implented around the year 2015, then we'll see government dictating the choices we as Americans have concerning the medical care we receive.

Shaun Donovan, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, wants the feds to track diversity in America's neighborhoods and then it wants to push policies on those neighborhoods if they are practicing racial discrimination.  To me that's communism for the federal government to stick their nose into America's neighborhoods to determine if there's discrimination involved based on the racial composition on the neighborhood.  We as Americans have the right of mobility.  We should choose where we want to live based on what's best for our own families.  That's not the place for the federal government to decide.

Ben Carson: Congress Must "Surgically Excise" Obamacare

Dr. Ben Carson

If there's anybody that President Obama should listen to, it's Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon.  He knows about that bill and know it's a fraud.  He knows about all the bureaucratic redtape that's involved.  Consequently, Obama nor his colleagues in Congress will listen to Carson because Obamacare is their masterpiece when it comes to implementing the globalists' socialistic agenda on America.  To read the full story, click on the above link from Newsmax.

Congress Exempts Itself From Obamacare, Can Keep Subsidized Plans

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/aug/2/congress-can-keep-government-subsidized-health-pla/

** FILE ** House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., speaks to reporters during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, March 7, 2013. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi

One of the things that's so hypocritical about the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare is that Congress passed this bill and President Obama signed this bill onto the American people.  Congress is exempted from the effects of this bill.  In other words, according to the Washington Times, members of Congress and their staff won't face potentially massive hikes in their health care premiums is because of a clause in President Obama's healthcare overhaul.  There's a loophole there which would exempt Congress from having to pay the high premiums taxpayers will have to pay and some are already paying.  When the key provisions of Obamacare are in place in 2015, healthcare costs will really be high.  To me it's sheer hypocrisy for the federal government to pass laws that they themselves are exempted from.  This healthcare bill is good for the average American,. but it isn't sufficient for certain corporations that received waivers from the Obama administration nor is it sufficient for Obama nor Congress themselves.  They don't care.  They consider themselves gods among men.  They are the oligarchs that think they can treat the U.S. citizen like peasants while they enjoy the very best being in Congress has to offer in the way of perks or other benefits.  It's crooked.

AP: Signs of Declining Economic Security

http://bigstory.ap.org/article/exclusive-4-5-us-face-near-poverty-no-work-0

Poverty Struggling Whites

Here's an article from the Associated Press speaking on the declining state of the U.S. economy.  It gives various signs on why there's so much economic insecurity among the middle class or working class whites in the United States.  Never before since the Great Depression has the U.S. faced a shortage of jobs.  I was listening to the radio last week and it stated that most of the recent jobs that have been created have been in retail or restaurant jobs.  Those types of jobs are entry level jobs which aren't meant to be the type of jobs that provide for a family.  The economic unraveling of our country has been taking place for the last few decades with millions of manufacturing jobs being exported overseas along with higher taxes and more mundane regulations in the private sector.  That's all a part of the globalist agenda in our country.

Obama Disputes Job Projections for Keystone XL Pipeline: NYT

President Obama called into question the number of jobs that would be created from the Keystone XL Pipeline in an interview with the New York Times the following Saturday.  Obama was disputing the statement by Republicans that the Keystone XL Pipeline project would be a job generator.  He claimed that there was no evidence that was true.  Obama stated that the most realistic estimates are that there might be 2000 jobs created for the construction of the pipeline, which could take a year or two, between 50 and 100 jobs in an economy of 150 million working people.

How many jobs that the Keystone XL Pipeline would create I don't know, but I'm sure the numbers would be higher that what the president is trying to forecast.  However, the reason for the construction of the pipeline from Canada to Texas has much more to do with the economy than creating jobs.  It provides us with another means for the U.S. to tap into its own oil resources without having to import oil from foreign countries, such as the Middle East, for example.  Consequently, our politicians are in bed with the Middle East and they've made deals with them where the U.S. imports oil from them.  The federal government for years have been dictating to Americans where the oil supply will come from, and it's not from the U.S.  We can't drill for our own oil and be energy independent.  We must be energy dependent and rely on oil from the Middle East.  To me that's communism.

Sensing McConnell Could be Defeated, Challengers Try to Unseat Veteran Republican Leader

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/03/sensing-mcconnell-is-finally-beatable-challengers-try-to-unseat-veteran/

  Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell

For the first time in years, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is in a very vulnerable situation politically.  He has opposition from both sides of the aisle in the state of Kentucky.  Kentucky's Secretary of State, Allison Lundergan Grimes, is running against McConnell on the Democrat sides.  Louisville businessman Matt Bevin, is a political newcomer and running against McConnell on the Republican side.  The Democrats are trying to paint McConnell as the chief obstructionist in the U.S. Senate.  Grimes said if McConnell was told by doctor that he had a kidney stone, he'd refuse to pass it.  Bevin was critical of McConnell for undermining conservatives in compromising with the Democrats on illegal immigration and raising the debt ceiling, for example.  This will be a very interesting ratce.  To read the full story, click on the above link from FoxNews.com.
