Derek Chauvin Found Guilty on All Counts in Death of George Floyd

Derek Chauvin Found Guilty on All Counts on George Floyd's Death Derek Chauvin found guilty on all charges

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts of second and third degree murder Tuesday afternoon along with second degree manslaughter on the death of George Floyd in May.  Chauvin faces us to 40 years in prison.  He will sentenced in 8 weeks from yesterday.

At least justice was served for Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd.  I will say in all fairness I understand many times police face situations where the person they are placing under arrest many times resist and many times law enforcement has to employ hold downs to make the accused to comply.  However, the method utilized by Chauvin was totally uncalled for.  In the process of holding down those that resist arrest, you don't choke them or prevent them from being able to breathe.  If you do that, you're committing murder.  There are proper methods to be used when law enforcement arrests criminals.  Choking the life out of them and inhibiting them from breathing is not right.  Derek Chauvin deserves to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.  That was inexcusable on his part.

Much of the rioting and unrest that took place since May 27th last year resulted from the cruel act that Chauvin committed against Floyd.  I don't supporting the mass rioting that took place in our major cities last year.  Rioting isn't the answer in stopping this type of atrocity.  Black Lives Matter and many other leftist groups took advantage of that situation and rioting and looted many businesses and places across our major cities in the United States.  Those that rioted and looted need to be held responsible for what they did and should pay for all the damage that's been inflicted on many of the businesses in major cities and on some of the statutes they damaged and toppled down.  It's preposterous.

Even though I'm totally opposed to Chauvin's actions last May, the answer isn't to defund the police.  That is absolutely foolish.  We need law enforcement to restrain the lawless.  We can't abolish the police force.  As chaotic our country is today, just imagine what the streets in our major cities would be like if the police force were to be abolished.  The answer is simply to hand a pink slip to those in law enforcement that abuse their authority.  Their badge should be removed from them.  That's how you solve that problem.  Also, the police chiefs should warn the police department if they engage in unethical behavior and commit something as sinister as Derek Chauvin, their badges will be removed and they will be terminated.  Also, those such as Chauvin who committed such atrocity should receive prison time as well.  Chauvin will definitely face prison time.
