Former GOP House Leader Says Republicans Need to Use High Gas Prices an Issue in Presidential Election

Armey: GOP Must Use High Gas Prices to Win in 2012

PreviewFormer House Majority Leader Dick Armey

Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey tells Newsmax.TV that conservatives must zero in on issues such as high gasoline prices to win the general election this November.  He claimed PAC's like his organization's Freedom Works for America will almost certainly make those issues the focus in this year's election against the Democrats.  The Texas Republican says that conservatives should point out that high gas prices, which experts say could reach $5 a gallon this summer, are buoyed by a combination of excessive restrictions imposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and bad decisions by the Democrats' rejection of the Keystone XL Pipeline Project.

The sad truth of the matter is Republicans don't have a much better track record on high gasoline prices, either.  Under former president George W. Bush, gas prices rose dramatically during his administration, reaching a peak of around $4 dollars a gallon during the summer of 2008.  The Republicans controlled Congress during most of Bush's presidency during the 2000's and they supposedly couldn't garner the votes necessary to utilize land in Alaskas and offshore to drill for more oil in the U.S.  It was a travesty.  The truth of the matter is it's not part of the agenda of the oligarchs for the U.S. to tap into it's own resources to drill for more oil.  The forces of Nimrod want the U.S. to continue being dependent upon the Middle East for our oil.  It's insanity.  We have enough oil in the U.S. in certain states that we could be sufficient for a few centuries to come.  Who's behind the decision making regarding high gas prices?  Is it the speculators on Wall Street?  I believe there's a grand conspiracy involved to maintain high gas prices to bring down the American economy.  I don't see a single Republican running for president nor any of the Republicans running for Congress that's willing to stand and see to it that the U.S. is no longer dependent on foreign oil.  It doesn't make any difference what the party affiliation or political preference the elected elite label themselves.  They're all in this together!  That's why we must vote out incumbents in Congress in this year's election.  They're all part of the problem.
