(Fox News.com March 19, 2011) Former Secretary of State Warren Christopher under former president Bill Clinton, died late Friday at his Los Angeles home from complications of bladder and kidney cancer.  Christopher was a key figure in peace efforts in Bosnia in the Mideast as the Secretary of State during the Bill Clinton administration.  He was Secretary of State during Clinton's first term from the years 1993-97.  Following his stint as Secretary of State, Christopher was also a senior partner at the law firm of O'Melveny & Myers.

A longtime Californian, Christopher headed a panel that pushed a number of Los Angeles Police Department reforms following the 1992 riots.  A loyal Democrat and meticulous lawyer, Christopher supervised the contested Florida recount for Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election.

He told the Associated Press that his proudest accomplishments were a role in promoting a ban on nuclear weapons tests and extension of curbs on proliferation of weapons technology.  He also tirelessly tried to promote peace in the Middle East, traveling to the region a number of times.  Christopher made two dozen trips to Syria in a futile effort to promote a settlement with Israel.

As a successful Los Angeles lawyer, Christopher had a seven-figure income, and a beach house in fashionable Santa Barbara.  He is survived by his wife Marie and four children in two marriages: Lynn, Scott, Thomas, and Kristen.
