McConnell Privately Backs Trump Impeachment

McConnell Privately Backs Trump Impeachment McConnell privately backs Trump impeachment in hopes it will “purge him from the party”: report | Salon.com

According to a New York Times report, Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) privately backs House impeachment of Trump.  Also Vice-President Mike Pence stated that he won't utilize the 25th amendment in removing President Trump, as Nancy Pelosi urged Pence to do.  As of the latest news according to NPR, the House has already moved to impeach President Trump a second time as I speak.  The House has moved to draft articles of impeachment against President supposedly for inciting violence last Wednesday against the country as a mob of "Trump supporters" stormed last Wednesday January 6 which resulted in deaths, such as police at Capitol Hill.  Trump is blamed for inciting violence for last Wednesday's event. It took place as Congress was voting to certify President-elect Joe Biden's victory in November.  As of this writing, several Republican senators have cited their support for the impeachment of the president, at a time when in one week Joe Biden, will take the oath of office as the 46th nation's president.  According to some sources who know McConnell's thinking, said that this will purge the party from President Trump.

I wholeheartedly believe the purpose for this impeachment by the House is to ensure that President Trump can't run for office again, including the year 2024.  The truth of the matter is that even if Trump did run that year, he wouldn't win re-election.  I wholeheartedly believe that.  Politically speaking, Trump is finished and now he can devote his time to pursuing what he was doing prior to winning the presidency.  I could make other comments regarding the "insurrection" at the Capitol last Wednesday, but I will reserve that for another time.
