Putting on the Armour of God

Ephesians 6:11 says "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may stand against the wiles of the Devil. Vss. 12, 13 say, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand in the evil day, and having done all to stand." That verse is telling us how monumentally important it is to prepare ourselves for spiritual battle.

In the natural realm, we don't have a problem in putting on the proper gear that's necessary when performing a job, or playing sports. However, when it comes to fighting spiritual forces, we lay our armour down and don't prepare ourselves for battle. We take our ease in Zion.

When a football team hits the field, they don't come out there with no protective gear on. They are well-prepared. They have their helmet, shoulder pad, knee pad, and the list continues. Why? Because they will get hurt if they go out there tackling their opponent and they don't wear something to protect their bodies. We should take that exact same approach in the spiritual realm. If we don't protect ourselves with God's armor, we're going to get hurt and even defeated. We wonder why so many Christians are up and down spiritually. I believe much of it is we don't equip ourselves for this spiritual war.

Any saved person with any spiritual sense recognizes we're in a war. The forces of Satan are fighting us tooth and nail. We're very close to the unveiling of the antichrist and Satan's doing everything he can to distract and destroy God's people. So many of God's people seem to be down in the doldrums and ready to quit. Even preachers. So many Christians' lives are a spiritual roller coaster. I believe much of it is because they don't apply the armour of God to themselves. With all the sensuality, evil, and all the darts the Devil throws at us, we can't afford not to place our protective gear on ourselves.

    For though we walk after the flesh we do not war after the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;

  2. Very well stated. You can't make it in this world without the whole armor of God. I liked that scripture you gave in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
