Rick Santorum swept the GOP caucuses in Kansas, but still didn't make a dent into GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney's delegate lead. With all the precincts reporting, Santorum won with 51% of the vote followed by Romney who trailed 21%. Newt Gingrich was third with 14% followed by Ron Paul at 13%. Of the 40 delegates awarded from Kansas, Santorum picked up 33 while Romney picked up 7 delegates. Santorum also won three votes from the Wyoming caucus.
In spite of Santorum's win in Kansas, Romney erased any gains Santorum made this evening by winning the Wyoming contest along with a string of victories in a series of far-flung contests like Guam, which is one of the U.S. territories that participates in the nomination. Romney racked up more than 30 delegates in the far-flung territories. As of present, Romney has a margin of 200+ delegates over Santorum. As the electoral count stands, Romney has 454 delegates, followed by Santorum with 217 delegates. Gingrich comes in third with 107 delegates followed by Paul with 47. 1144 delegates are needed to clinch the GOP nomination.
