Romney wins Illinois GOP primary - Chicago Sun-Times

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney received a huge win in a Midwestern state. Romney had a huge spending advantage in Illinois and had all the state's elected Republicans behind him. With 98% of the precincts reporting, Romney led challenger Rick Santorum 47% to 35%. Romney was declared the victor 45 minutes after the polls closed. Romney, who already has twice the delegates Rick Santorum has, appeared on track to capture 42 of the state's delegates with Santorum receiving 12. Romney will also receive most of the state's 15 super-delegates.
