Tax Reform Must Include the Wealthy

Rush Limbaugh Outlines His Problem With GOP's Tax Plan



Several weeks ago, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was a guest on Fox News Hannity.  They were speaking on a number of topics such as the recent controversy in the NFL where certain players would take a knee during the presentation of the national anthem, for example.  Another issue that they both were discussing is the issue of tax reform.  Limbaugh was talking about the current GOP tax reform proposal.  He said there were certain things he liked about it, but there wasn't any tax cut provision for the wealthy, to speak of. 

I know this will be a great point of controversy, esp. with those who buy into this class warfare nonsense that the Democratic party has been relentless about over the years.  The Democratic party all the time always make snide remarks when it comes to any tax cut plan saying it only benefits the wealthy few.  I have a little news for them: They should benefit from a tax cut as well.  Why should the wealthy be punished because they're very successful in the private sector and know how to make tons of money?  That's not right whatsoever.  Just because a person is a millionaire or billionaire doesn't mean that over half their income should be confiscated by the federal government.  That's wicked.  The problem with America's deficit is a result of gross overspending by Congress and the president which has been happening flamboyantly the last 30+ years.  The Democrats' plan is to raise hard-working Americans' taxes and continually spend like tomorrow will never arrive. 

The rich are the economic engines of this country.  Many of them are job creators.  If you tax them to death, they'll invest their money into some overseas account.  They're not going to keep their money in this country if the federal government is going to confiscate it.  The top marginal tax rate is 39%, which is too high.  Both the Democrats and Republicans can speak all they want to of lowering the tax rate on the middle class, but if they keep the top marginal rate as is, then the economy won't improve like it could.  If the economy is to grow, then the government needs to stop punishing the wealthy. 

I know there are a few uber-rich who are crooked.  Most of those people tend to be in bed with or have alliances with government.  They control both the media and our politicians.  However, punishing a whole class of rich people due to the actions of a few is ludicrous.  There are many first-generation rich people who are honest and frugal with their money.  They do a service to our economy when they are innovative and create jobs for the American people to operate their businesses.  You don't find business owners that are poor and broke unless they've run their business to the ground.  I will say in all my experience of being in the work force, I've never had a dirt-poor person to hire me.  I've been hired by people that were had money and were able to offer me a job so I can pay my bills.  A person who doesn't have two dimes to rub together can offer you employment.  It's just that simple. 

It's time the Democrats stop playing the class warfare game.  Americans as a whole pay far too much in taxes.  My proposal is to eliminate the graduated income tax bracket and institute a flat tax for all Americans.  As far as I'm concerned, that's the most equitable way to collect taxes from the American people.
