Bannon: Gillespie Campaign Shows You Can't Take Trump Agenda
Following Republican Gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie's loss to Democrat Ralph Northam in virginia, former chief Trump strategist Steve Bannon said to a Michigan audience that attempts to "fake" Trump's "America First" agenda will fail. This was Bannon's post-mortem analysis of the Virginia Gubernatorial election this past Tuesday. Gillespie, a former RNC Chairman and former Bush adviser, embraced the Trump "America First" agenda too late, emphasizing banning sanctuary cities and the promise to protect America's historical monuments. Gillespie dragged his feet on embracing the Trump agenda and it was too late for him.
Many Democrats were excited over both New Jersey and Virginia's results in the gubernaotrial race. However, the loss was due to the situations in both of those states. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had a 15% approval rating in New Jersey and it didn't bode well for the GOP candidate in the gubernatorial race. Ed Gillespie in Virginia was a RINO and didn't offer a true vision for agenda. He lost the election himself in a blue state. It was Gillespie's own fault.
