In Robert Gates' new memoir "Duty', which has already hit the bookstores, he launches a scathing attack on Congress concerning their incompetence on not passing an appropriations bill on time. He called it a "dereliction of duty." In his book about President Obama's handling the Afghanistan War, he stated he agreed with Obama's strategy concerning the Afghan war but he said the president wasn't passionate about winning the war in Afghanistan. He claimed the president even doubted his own strategy. However, he was far more critical of Congress. He stated a number of times members of Congress would incessantly bug him about local projects while the nation was at part. He was very critical of both Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
