Republicans say raising tax rates alone will hardly put dent in budget, deficit | Fox News
GOP Congressman Tom Price from Georgia in 2009.
Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga) made the statement the other day that ending the rates from the Bush tax cuts for families earning more than $250,000 a year would produce only enough money for the government to run for less than nine days. That's the truth. I personally don't know how much revenue would be generated from tax increases from the wealthy but it wouldn't be enough to last that long. The reason is (1) there aren't that many wealthy people in America (2) and the government's spending is way out of control. I believe it would be thievery for the federal government to raise taxes upon the American people anyway. The government overspends and they haven't done one thing to rein in out-of-control federal spending. They have no right to impose higher taxes upon the so-called wealthy. They won't do their part to tighten their belts when it comes to federal spending. Therefore, they have no business asking the American people to tighten their belts and cough up more money for Uncle Sam.
What the federal government wants is control over the American people. That's why the tax code is the way it is. They can play the class warfare game with the progressive tax code. If the government was serious about raising more revenue, then they would loosen the stranglehold on businesses which hinder them from creating more jobs. If the regulations over businesses were drastically reduced, businesses would grow, hire more people, and bring more taxable receipts to the government. Our elected elite know that. They don't care. Our government is all about controlling our lifestyle. The government is transforming itself into a dictatorship.
