CARDENAS: Republican too White, Male, Old

CARDENAS: Republicans too white, male, old - Washington Times

Since Mitt Romney's disappointing loss in the presidential election a few weeks ago, several naysayers have been predicting the reason for Romney's loss in the election.  Many are saying the problem with the GOP is they are too conservative and the influence of the "right-ring" media such as Rush Limbaugh, for example.  Also, they are saying the GOP vote is comprised of old, white, men.  That's the explanation many are giving for the GOP's loss this past November.  That's not the truth.  Here are some of the reasons why the GOP lost in November.

One of the reasons that the GOP lost the presidential election was the simple fact Mitt Romney ran a very wimpish campaign.  He was a very weak candidate that didn't make his case very well before the American public.  He didn't call Obama out for who he was.  He didn't say how he would deal with the issue of illegal immigration.  He didn't have any fire in his bosom.  It was a joke.  I personally don't think he ran to win.  He was far from the candidate that was needed to show the American people he was the man for the job.  It was ridiculous given the fact that President Obama was vulnerable considering the state of the American economy.  I believe everything was set up for an Obama win.

Another problem was the issue of changing demographics, as Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly pointed out on election night to Brett Baier and Megyn Kelly.  The United States has been infiltrated with Hispanics within the last few decades due to unrestrained illegal immigration.  Many of them vote Democratic.  We also have a growing segment of the population that are receiving government benefits.  Within the last few years millions of Americans have lost jobs due to the mortgage meltdown and more of them are receiving jobless benefits.  There are also those who believe the government owes them a living.  There are some people who claimed they voted for President Obama because of free cell phones.  There are also a group of deadbeats who are content to live on government welfare.  That's one of the problems with America's culture.  People want free benefits but have no desire to earn their living.  That mentality is far from the American Dream that built this great nation.

Another problem is the dumbing down of America's schools.  As a result, we are having a growing segment of young people who are voting Democratic.  According to a Pew Research survey, 66% of those under the age of 30 voted for Barack Obama.  That's more young people voting for a Democratic president than any time since exit polling began in 1972.

The GOP doesn't need to tone down their message.  They need to do a much better job in marketing their message.  The problem is I believe the GOP have willfully toned down their message in the last 2 presidential elections to give the election to Barack Obama.  The GOP must stick to their principles.  It's ridiculous for them to compromise their message.  The GOP has had the right message in the past.  The problem is they don't enforce what the party platform stands for.  We have too many RINO's in the GOP.  They want to compromise with issues that are worth compromising.  Why vote for the GOP if they're going to behave like Democrats?  It's ludicrous.  They need to stand with the Constitution.  That also includes cracking down on illegal immigration.  They shouldn't be crafting a new platform to grant amnesty to illegal aliens.  They need to pass a law to create a triple-tiered border fence.  They need to tell those that are living illegally in the United States they can't remain here as illegals.  If they are going to remain in the U.S. they must apply for a permit to live in the U.S. or they must go through the proper channels to apply for citizenship.  The day that illegals live in the U.S. as illegals must end.  We can't have undocumented people living here in the United States.  Not only is it too dangerous but it's also not fair to those that live her legally.  The problem is the GOP wants to abandon their principles for the sake of compromise.  Nobody wants to stand for what's right.
