Trump Congratulates Doug Jones on Hard-Fought Victory
Doug Jones, the winning candidate
President Trump on Tuesday night tweeted to the Democratic candidate Doug Jones, for winning a "hard-fought" victory on Tuesday night against Republican rival Roy Moore. He narrowly defeated Roy Moore to fill out the remainder of Jeff Sessions' term in the Senate. Trump also tweeted that he knew Moore couldn't win and that was why he backed Luther Strange in the GOP primary in Alabama.
I'm going to give you my thoughts on this subject. Doug Jones won not because of Roy Moore's "conservatism" or that he fought for the Ten Commandments, for example, but because of the sexual allegations against Roy Moore that he had played around with a 14-year old teenage girl when he was in his 30's. The sad fact was that Moore didn't prove to the voters that he wasn't guilty of the charge. That's what destroyed him. If it wasn't for those sexual allegation charges, then he would've won. But he failed to prove to voters that he was innocent. Whether or not he was innocent I can't prove one way or another, I read the thoughts of one former radio talk show host and he recommended that Moore take a lie detector test to prove his innocence. Moore didn't do that. He more than likely should've done that. If he had, then it might have given more given him more credibility with the voters. Since he didn't, then that's why he lost. Instead we have a radical leftist who will vote for the Democrats' agenda in Congress. Alabama needs better than that. Let's hope in 2020 a strong formidable candidate will run against Jones for the Senate seat, and hopefully Jones will be defeated. Click on the above link to read the election results.
