Joy to the World--Bill & Gloria Gaither
Isaac Watts, the "Father of English Hymnody" penned the famous Christmas carol, "Joy to the World." He had never intended for this to be a Christmas carol at all. It was part of his "Psalms of David Imitated", published in 1719, which contained paraphrases of many of the Psalms in New Testament Language. It is the imitation of the last half of Psalm 98. It is a great hymn. When you listen to the first verse of the song, it's noticeable when it mentions that "The Lord is Come" it's not speaking of the first time when Jesus came to the world when he was born in Bethlehem. It's referring to Christ's second coming that is yet to come. What a day that will be when the Lord does come again to this world.
JOY TO THE WORLD THE LORD IS COME
LET EARTH RECEIVE HER KING!
LET EVERY HEART PREPARE HIM ROOM
AND HEAVEN AND NATURE SING
AND HEAVEN AND NATURE SING
AND HEAVEN AND HEAVEN AND NATURE SING
