The Ever Shrinking Conservative Base of the GOP
http://www.thenewamerican.com/reviews/opinion/item/16325-the-ever-shrinking-conservative-base-of-the-gop
I've heard talk show hosts make this statement, and I've made this statement myself. There isn't a dime's worth of difference between the two national parties. Rence Priebus, the GOP chairman, can hold a meeting in Boston to try to mend the rifts within the Republican party all he desires. The truth is the GOP will never again become a party to be reckoned with unless they stop pandering to fringe groups, such as the Hispanics, as the Democrats have. They will never be legitimate as long as they're the lighter version of the Democratic Party. They must once again embrace the principles of the U.S. Constitution, which they refuse to do. Also, they need to stop pandering towards amnesty for illegals. That was tried once before under Ronald Regan in 1986 and it never solved the illegal immigration issue. They need to stand for the Constitution and follow it. They should stand against anything and everything that wrecks the freedoms Americans enjoy and know.
Something else the GOP must do if they ever desire to be revitalized: They must stop lying. When they campaign and say they're for repealing or slowing down the implementation of Obamacare, they better mean that instead of lying to the voters. I guarantee you that angers numerous conservative voters. It does me. I have zero respect for House Speaker John Boehner who in 2010 said that Obamacare is a "job killer" and that he would do everything in his power once he becomes House Speaker to repeal or slow down Obamacare. He hasn't done anything of the sort and he's shown what kind of traitor he is to this country. If the Republicans are going to be deceptive when it comes to critical issues such as Obamacare, then they need to cease to make that a campaign issue. That's why conservative voters are so infuriated with the GOP. You can't trust them to make a concerted effort to fulfill their campaign promises.
