Teen charged with planning to blow up Tampa school

Teen charged with planning to blow up Tampa school

It's a tragedy in the day we live in.  Public schools today are no longer safe havens in which children can come to school and receive an education to prepare them for life.  Today our public schools have gone wild with juvenile delinquents.  Many students are carrying guns and knives to schools.  Our public school system has becoming a war zone.  We can all remember the incidents that took place in Heath High School in Paduch, Kentucky in 1997 and Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado in 1999, to name a few.  It's tragic.  What has happened?  Many of the problems are due to the breakdown of the home.  There used to be a time when parents would support the teachers if their children had to be disciplined in the classroom.  If a student was disciplined in the classroom that day, their parents would take the rod to their backside when they arrived home.  If the parents heard their children were misbehaving in the classroom, they didn't question or blame the teacher.  They automatically assumed their children were the guilty culprits and rightly so.  If the student had the rod applied to their seat of learning in school, it was repeated at the house.  That stopped a lot of foolishness in the classroom.  Today is a different story altogether.  Many parents today will blame the teacher if their children are corrected in school today.  They don't support the teachers like they once did.  That's why juvenile delinquency is running rampant today.  Also, instead of the teachers educating the students like they're supposed to, they have to play the role of teacher combined with mother and father.  That can't be done.  Teachers can't do what parents refuse to do.  There was a time when parents were more involved in their children's education than they are now.  The lack of parental involvement in their children's education has had a negative effect on their children's learning in the public school system.

Proverbs 22:15 says, "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him."  In order to successfully educate a child, one of the tools that must be used is the rod of correction.  If children aren't chastened for their unruly behavior, then they won't learn in school and as a result, it will have an adverse impact upon their future.  We need to go back to the old-time way of old-fashioned discipline once again.

Click on the above link entitled, "Teen charged with planning to blow up Tampa school."  I'm not going to expound upon the article, but this tells you the problems that are facing today's youth.  Education begins in the home.  If parents don't properly discipline their children at home, then it will make it difficult if not impossible for teachers to properly educate their students.  One unruly student can disrupt the classroom.  That unruly students not only affect themselves, but they negatively affect their peers as well.  As thankful as I am for technology and nice facilities, they won't replace the role of the home in a child's life.  Parental involvement will play a much greater role in determining if their children will be successfully educated than all the money that's being spent in the public school systems across America today.
