Biden Accused of Calling Tea Party 'Terrorists'
Vice President Joe Biden says Tea Partiers are Terrorists
According to sources from Fox News, Vice President Joe Biden was accused of calling Tea Party Republicans terrorists in a private meeting with House Democrats. Vice President Biden denied making those claims. A senior Democratic official told Fox News that Biden made those comments as he acted in a "heated conversation with liberal members such as Rep. Mike Doyle (D-PA), who were venting that the Republicans were getting too much out of the debt ceiling deal unveiled the night before and acted like terrorists. The first to criticize the Vice President was Senator Rand Paul (R-KY). Paul said, "With the president holding the American economy hostage, I would prefer to think of myself as a Freedom Fighter." He stated the remarks were insulting.
Joe Biden is known for making several gaffes throughout his career in Washington, D.C. That's nothing new with him. However, it's pathetic to have an elected official from Washington labeling a grass-roots movement such as the Tea Party "terrorists." The purpose of the Tea Party is to promote fiscal sanity and limited, constitutional government. It was through the remarks of Rick Santelli, who on February 19, 2009 made the statement that the government was promoting bad behavior through the TARP bailouts that started the Tea Party. It was his comments that inspired groups throughout the country to mobilize into a grassroots "tea party" movement. The Tea Party is a groundswell of average American citizens who are sick and tired of the government reaching their tentacles into areas of America society in which it has no constitutional authority to do so. Biden and our elected elite in Washington are showing their disdain for the American people.
During the debt ceiling "debate" many pundits in the mainstream media have been trying to smear and ridicule the Tea Party's influence on freshmen members of Congress. The media has been critical of the Tea Party's insistence that the elected elite in Washington take a strong stand against raising the debt ceiling. This past week Kathleen Parker, who writes a syndicated column in newspapers across the country, has criticized the Tea Party for its opposition to raising the debt ceiling. I've heard radio talk show host Alan Colmes say that the Tea Party has held our economy in hostage because of the Tea Party's rigid stance against Congress raising the debt ceiling. I have some news for Mr. Colmes. It's not the Tea Party that's holding our economy hostage, it's President Obama and Congress who won't make the right decisions concerning our economy. For the last several decades Congress has long spent far more than what they've taken in. Now we're having to pay the piper for the wreckless spending that's taken place in Washington for the last few decades. It's asinine for Congress to raise the debt ceiling when they won't eliminate wasteful spending. Anyone that operates a business in the private sector knows you can't spend more than what you take in. A business would fold if it operated like our federal government does. Mitt Romney knows that being a businessman himself. Why has he been fairly silent during this whole "debate?"
The Tea Party isn't a group of terrorists. Our elected elite and the media know that. They're trying everything in their power to marginalize the Tea Party and make them irrelevant. Efforts are going to be made to divide and splinter this movement. I project that as the economy sours, the Tea Party will receive the blame for it. Watch and see.
