Fireworks Erupt at GOP Presidential Debate in Iowa - FoxNews.com
This past Thursday evening in Ames Iowa, there were terse moments during the Republican presidential debate. Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty had heated exchanges with Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann stating that she doesn't have a record of accomplishment as a Congresswoman. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was very testy with Chris Wallace when Wallace pointed out that there have been campaigner staffers that quite the Gingrich campaign stating he wasn't serious about a presidential run. Gingrich asserted he didn't like the "Mickey Mouse" games of the media and the "gotcha" questions. Gingrich stated the primary debate should be about the candidates distinguishing themselves from President Barack Obama. Congressman Ron Paul was stating that we need to mind our own business and stop this nonsense in involving ourselves in wars around the Middle East. On one other note, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann won the Iowa Straw Poll today. Bachmann received 28% of the nearly 17,000 votes cast. Texas Congressman Ron Paul came in second with 27% of the vote. Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty came in a distant third with 13% of the vote, followed by former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum with 9% and former CEO of Godfather's Pizza Herman came with 8% of the vote. On one final note, the anticipated entry of Rick Perry into the 2012 presidential race took place today. He made his announcement before a conservative group in Charleston, South Carolina that he was tossing his hat into the ring and he was look forward to a showdown with President Obama.
