Kentucky School Shooting
Two students were killed Tuesday and eighteen others were wounded when a 15-year old boy armed with a handgun opened fire inside Marshall County High School, which is located in Benton, KY. Terrified students ditched their backpacks and scrambled to get away and within minutes of the shots being fired, sheriffs' deputies were inside the school disarming the student and taking him into custody. Bailey Nicole Holt, 15, died at the scene. Preston Ryan Cope, 15, later died in a trauma center with injuries to the brain. Sixteen of the injured were wounded by gunfire and four others were hurt while trying to escape, according to state police. Three of the victims were listed in critical condition Tuesday evening at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Authorities declined to identify the suspect or discuss a possible motive. Police Chief Richard Sanders stated the shooter would likely face two counts of murders and numerous "attempted" accounts of murder. The FBI and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also joined the investigation. Click on the above link to read the rest of the story.
