Obama: We're Ending Combat in Afghanistan
President Barack Obama
In a pair of statements on Christmas Day, President Obama stated that we're ending our "combat missions" in Afghanistan but that U.S. forces will remain there to conduct "counterterrorism operations" against what he called "remnants of Al-Qaeda. The President also said of Afghanistan on Christmas Day that it won't be a source of terrorist attacks again.
The question I have to ask President Obama is why didn't he finish the job of completely destroying Al-Qaeda before now instead of the U.S. supposedly leaving Al-Qaeda and leaving behind forces involving themselves in conducting counterterrorism operations against the remnants of Al-Qaeda. That's very stupid. The war in Afghanistan should've ended when Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush was in office. I guarantee before too long the U.S. will be just as embroiled in Afghanistan in the near future like the U.S. is involved in Iraq supposedly trying to fight "ISIS" or the Islamic State.
