Who Killed the Middle Class? | CNS News
Pat Buchanan
Syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan wrote an interesting piece about the middle class. He was speaking of what's killed America's middle class in the last few decades. In this particular article, he focuses on some of the trade agreements that's hurt America's manufacturing base such as NAFTA, for example. Also, America has had large trade deficits with other countries around the world since the 70's.
I will mention a couple of other things that's hurt America's middle class within the last few decades as well. One of those is a declining work ethic among America's workers. There are many people in our labor force who are lazy and don't won't to work. Another problem is the onerous regulations that the federal, state, and local governments impose upon American business. One major obstacle to job growth will be Obamacare whenever the key provisions of it are set in place in 2014. Fred DeLuca, co-founder of Subway stated recently that he wouldn't have been able to have started Subway if the same governmental regulations were imposed upon small businesses back in the 60's. He stated that if Obamacare goes as planned he will have to pass the costs upon the customers. I posted an article on one of my blogposts last year which stated that if many of the existing businesses had to start today, they wouldn't be able to exist because of the onerous regulations placed upon them from government.
