Violence Erupts after Tunisian Islamists Win Vote
Speaking about democracy, this is what you get after Tunisian Islamists win vote. Democracy is nothing but mob rule. Just like Libya, Islamists are taking hold in Tunisia. The massive protests in Tunisia began when a 26 year old street vendor named Mohamed Bouazizi, set himself on fire on December 17, 2010. He finally died on January 4, 2011. He set himself on fire due to the confiscation of his wares and the humiliation inflicted upon him by a municipal official. This led to mass demonstrations and riots throughout Egypt in protest of social and political issues in the country. It eventually led longtime president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to step down on January 14, 2011 after ruling for 23 years. Street demonstrations have continued unto the present day. These demonstrations were precipitated by high unemployment, food inflation, and a lack of freedom of speech, etc. It was the most dramatic waves of protest in three decades. It resulted in scores of deaths and injuries. These protests inspired similar protests in other countries throughout the world such as Egypt, which forced the resignation of longtime president Hosni Mubarak, Algeria, Alemen, Jordan, Pakistan, and Libya to name a few.
In spite of the massive protests in Tunisia, it ultimately was no benefit. The Islamists have won the vote so the country is still in chaos. To read more of the story, click on the above link from Newsmax.
