In a recent shift, Trump stated he would support 'One China' policy. Prior to the presidential election, Trump had considered using Taiwan as leverage concerning negotiations over trade, national security and other sensitive issues.
More than two months after deviating from decades of diplomacy in regards to Taiwan, Trump accepts a phone call from the Chinese president and Trump promised not to upend relations between the two largest economies.
