U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) has just been approved by the full Senate as the next Secretary of State to replace outgoing secretary Hillary Clinton.
U.S. Senator and 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry was confirmed by the full U.S. Senate by a vote of 94-3. Both Democrats and Republicans praised Kerry as the ideal successor to outgoing Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton. Kerry is the son of a diplomat and was a decorated Vietnam veteran. Kerry is a five-term Senator from Massachusetts.
