Dottie Rambo: Walking Toward Recovery (Part 4)
Part 5
Part 6
Part 7
When Dottie Rambo suffered a sharp pain from her lower back during the telethon TBN, little did anyone know that she would be battling constant back pain for several years afterward. She suffered so much pain that she told CBN founder and broadcaster Pat Robertson during an appearance on the 700 Club in January 1992 that the pain was severe enough for a lumberjack who didn't know Jesus to commit suicide. That's how terrible the pain was. When the doctors from Atlanta operated on her, they cleaned out the column from her spine but didn't fuse her. That resulted in all sorts of untold pain and suffering. She would be literally screaming for 23 out of 24 hours during the day. As a result, she was taken to a surgeon who said he would burn 3 nerves around the width of her waist. The purpose of burning those nerves would be so she wouldn't feel all the pain she was suffering. Her family consented to the surgery. The surgeon who performed the surgery butchered up her back. Instead of burning three nerves, he burned a total of 136 nerves. She was paralyzed on the left side of her body. She had to have a cast placed on her leg as well. She had 14 inch rods placed in her back. Consequently, the pain was so severe that it became unbearable.
For the next several years Dottie would undergo ten surgeries to try to relieve the pain but to no avail. She was very frustrated because she wanted to go back into the ministry singing her songs once again. Hope appeared to be very bleak for Dottie. Buck would have to transport her back to the hospital over and over again over the next six years. She was facing the most severe and darkest trials of her life. Would she ever recover?
Listen to the remaining YouTube clips entitled, "Dottie Rambo: Walking Toward Recovery" to hear her testimony regarding her back problems she struggled with.
