Former Reality TV Star Josh Duggar Faces Child Porn Charges
Josh Duggar, a former TV personality from a large Christian family was arrested Thursday and is facing charges of downloading images and possessing child pornography is under a federal indictment unsealed Friday. KATV reported U.S. marshals arrested Duggar, 33, on behalf of another law enforcement agency and booked him in the Washington County Jail on Thursday afternoon. Federal prosecutors stated Duggar possessed the material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12 in May 2019. A federal judge set a May 5 detention hearing and a July 6 trial date.
If convicted, Duggar faces up to 20 years in prison and may be charged in fines of $250,000 on each count.
This isn't the only incident Duggar has been involved with. As CBN news reported, Duggar used to star, along with his siblings in the TLC series "19 Kids and Counting", but the show was cancelled when allegations of him molesting underage teenage girls was brought to light when he was a teenager. In 2006, Duggar was investigated for alleged misconduct when he was 14 years old. The police didn't report his name, but it provided his parents' names. Also, in 20015, it was brought to national attention of his indiscretions when he was a teenager. Four of Duggar's sisters appeared on the "Kelly File" giving their side of the story. The "19 Kids and Counting" was cancelled by TLC and he was terminated from his position from the Family Research Council.
