Kerry: Climate Change Deal Most Important Achievement in 2015
Secretary of State John Kerry at the COP 21 Climate Change Conference in Paris.
Secretary of State John Kerry said the climate change deal brokered in Paris was the most significant achievement accomplished in 2015. He mentioned many of the different "achievements" the Obama administration had achieved such as the Iran nuclear deal and the trade agreement deal, to name a few, but he stated that the climate change deal in Paris was far the most significant when it came to dealing with greenhouse gasses. Kerry credits the administration's "reaching out to China," the world's emitter of greenhouse gasses, as the cornerstone of the success of the United States climate change agreement. The U.S. gave $3 billion in funding to the U.N.'s Green Climate Fund to help the world's developing nation's, India and China develop more greenhouse gasses than other industrialized nations.
