President Obama cleared his first hurdle today as a key Senate panel voted to authorize the president to launch a punitive military attack against Syria. The panel voted 10-7 with one Senator voting present to approve a military strike as a result of the chemical-weapsons attacks against Syrian civilians on August 14th. 1400 civilians were killed in the attacks. John McCain (R-AZ) balked at the earlier draft and the objections toughened the new measure as a result. McCain was among 10 who voted for the final resolution after adding two amendments to it. He wanted tougher language concerning U.S. policy on the momentum changing on the ground. He ultimately won that amendment to the bill. To read the full story, click on the above link from Fox News.
