President Trump made the decision to terminate Secretary of State Rex Tillerson citing differences of opinion on such issues as North Korean diplomacy, steel and aluminum tariffs, and the Iran nuclear agreement. Trump stated he believed Tillerson will be happier outside the administration. Trump stated he appreciated Tillerson's business experience at Exxon-Mobil, but both had sharp difference of opinion on foreign policy. Trump has nominated CIA Director Mike Pompeo to be the new Secretary of State.
